"Book clubs are frequently clever ruses for people to get together, drink a lot of wine, eat some cheese, and talk for approximately twenty minutes about a book that two-thirds of the group managed to get halfway through. West Coast Wine is basically all that you go to book club for, without any required reading. And the wine, cheese, and small plates are way better than whatever the crew would usually grab from the grocery store on the way over. The small, modern wine bar on Union Street in Cow Hollow is run by a husband and wife who are super friendly and very, very into wine. Like, attending Pinot Camp into wine. Their love for it shows, and the wine list is fantastic: all California stuff hand-selected by the owners. It’s not just that there aren’t any Kendall Jacksons or Cupcakes here—the wines are on the higher end, and are both interesting and incredibly good. (Sidenote: if someone has a Pinot Camp hookup, let us know.) photo credit: Krescent Carasso Wine isn’t the only reason to hit up West Coast. The food is some of the best we’ve found at a wine bar and is also pretty reasonably priced. The menu is divided into three sections: cheese, meats, and plates—and each one deserves your time. All the ingredients are fresh, local, seasonal, and simple. You really can’t mess up ordering—and there’s something for everyone. Besides the two tables in the front, the entire restaurant is bar seats, so it’s best to hit up for date night, catching up with a friend, or dining alone. The latter is actually pretty ideal since you don’t need to share your cheese with anyone. Or even pretend to have read the book. Food Rundown photo credit: Krescent Carasso Halibut Crudo Light, tasty, and one of the only things on the menu that doesn’t involve cheese. The peaches and jalapeños are a good contrast. A tad oily, but still good. photo credit: Krescent Carasso Prosciutto Cotto Hot damn, this is a beautiful plate of meat. Not as thinly sliced as regular prosciutto, this guy is a must order. Get involved with the spicy mustard that comes on the side. This is the best of the meat options. photo credit: Krescent Carasso Summer Squash This is good, but we could absolutely make this at home. If we owned a grill. Fine if you need to get your daily serving of vegetables, but not that special. photo credit: Krescent Carasso Burrata If we had to choose ways to die, drowning in a sea of this burrata might be at the top of the list. It’s a little softer than your average burrata. Fresh tomatoes, basil, and buttery croutons we could use like Rose and her door from the Titanic should we rethink the drowning thing. Cacio e Pepe You need this. The portion isn’t big, but it is mighty. The noodles aren’t traditional spaghetti, they’re thicker and flatter and great. Share it. Or don’t. photo credit: Krescent Carasso Grilled Cheese Dining solo? Order up this guy and call it a night. The sandwich is honestly more of a ham and cheese, and it’s excellent. The house-made ham is super, the bread is well-toasted, and the carb:meat:cheese ratio is on point." - Taylor Abrams

Google
Friendly service. Wine by the glass list is decent but could be a little longer / more diverse in my opinion. Shisito peppers are delicious, would definitely recommend an order. Almonds are good as well, could use a tad more salt.

After getting nails done at JoyJoyNails, my girlfriend and I stumbled across this little gem on union. Cute little wine bar with nice selections and great charcuterie and cheese plate. Would def come back again.

Google
Great wine bar! Nice selection of CA, WA, OR varietals. Knowledgeable, friendly staff and nice pour options (1/2 to full glass, or bottle) so you taste a few different wines. Great atmosphere for small intimate groups.

Google
A lovely place with a fantastic selection of wines. We had a glass of point noir and orange sauvignon blanc.

Google
Great little neighborhood wine bar! Love the wine menu of unique wine I haven’t seen traveling to the different wine regions in CA! Perfect little after work nook. Big thanks to the chef who served us his homemade chocolate on our way out. It was delicious!

Nice selection of wines and small eats, great staff in a very hip location.

Great wine bar. Yummy eats.

Google
Cute and quaint wine spot with small plates! It's pretty small but we luckily got a table and ordered 2 bottles of wine, the cheese/meat platter, and avocado toast (yum!). I did see that they do a happy hour from 4-6pm so I'd like to come back and try them for happy hour. Great spot!

Yelp
West Coast Wine and Cheese is a great spot to grab an appetizer and drink. While it is a bit pricey that is expected for the area and they have a happy hour everyday - on Fridays it is from 3-6! As a result the small space fills up fast so be sure to get there early. There are a couple of outdoor tables in addition to a parklet which are dog-friendly. We enjoyed the HH Sav Blanc, Rose and burrata which were all great!

Natalie M.

Yelp
I got the Joyce Syrah and it was divine! This place has such a nice ambiance. They have such random music--very hip and fun. I love the setup with the tables and they have a great assortment of cheeses and wines. Staff are very friendly and the inside looks very charming and fun. I feel this place would be fun for a date or to catch up with friends. I went solo and enjoyed my time there. I was just relaxed and it was nice to enjoy a nice glass of wine outside.

Christina J.

Yelp
This wine bar is great! We really liked these happy hr options: Drinks: OVO Rose Charcuterie board: Truffle Tremor Finocchiona

Alissa H.

Yelp
We sat by the window in the booth which was very nice. The staff is super friendly and attentive. We got a bottle and every time they noticed our glass was empty or near empty they would refill it for us! Their wine is so tasty and the vibe/music is great! I will be bringing more friends here!

Ally L.

Yelp
Recommend the Burrata if you need a snack to go with your wine! Tad pricey but expected in this part of SF.

Sarah H.

Yelp
Great place to relax with a few drinks after work! It would be perfect for a small group of friends or date night. The wine was great, and the chef's favorite was delicious. Can't wait to go back!

Lavanya K.

Yelp
Cleanliness and social distancing practices: 5/5 Spacious spot with great seating (they get really crowded, so if you want one of the covered tables under the heat lamps, I'd call maybe a day before and make a reservation). We got stuck with a half table by the entrance which was OK, but it's a popular spot! Pretty good happy hour deal and great wine selection. Was also impressed with the cheese plate (actually didn't seem that much of a rip off, they gave a good amount of small items), and usually when I walk by I see people getting small bites as well - the bread is from Jane!

Gabby E.

Yelp
Now that I found this place, they will not be able to get rid of me! This is such a cute cozy place to go with friends or on a date -- it's the perfect mix of intimate and fun. They have a great selection of wine and the grilled cheese is a MUST!

Riya C.

Yelp
What a cute local spot - the ambience inside and outside is amazing. Great selection of wines. Staff was wonderful - can't wait to go back

Christina M.

Yelp
So much appreciation for this wine bar. Finally a place with some quality wines! Some wines I saw that were available I haven't seen at many restaurants or wine bars. You can find some great wines for a good value here. I really appreciated the Rivers-Marie and Kongsgaard on the menu. Unfortunately I wasn't able to try any food, they only had cheese available. I definitely will be coming back to try their happy hour deal and most definitely to buy some bottles to bring home!!

Robert A.

Yelp
Warning Warming Warning! Beware! This place will Rip You Off on the deceiving wine list! What one might expect printed as the price per glass and bottle $/$$ is actually a "half" glass (not even) and three quarters glass (again not even). Your wine tab will cost more than the meal! One star only because it's required,

Madeleine M.

Yelp
Amazing service! The sweetest wait staff. Went with a girlfriend and we felt like princesses. If you're looking for a spot for a date night or a girls' night out, look no further -- this is your spot. Salut!

Katherine S.

Yelp
So glad I got to try out this gem in Cow Hollow! When you walk in, you're met with a neat mural/drawing on the wall of California and the wine regions; on another wall is lots of wine. Chef Zarli makes some really amazing appetizers that will go perfectly with the wines that they have here. They just earned their second consecutive Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, a feat not achieved by too many restaurants! This is a great spot to stop by after work to wind down or before your dinner reservations. Take a seat at the bar or one of the tables in the corner.

Emily C.

Yelp
Great ambiance and a very cozy environment! The wine selections are expansive, and the cheese/meat selection is very impressive too. My party of two came during Happy Hour and got a bottle of wine plus two cheeses and a meat. The portions were generous and the service was quick. I believe our total bill was around $60 - a good deal for this area. I'm surprised a spot this small on Union wasn't super crowded but luckily we got seated right away at around 6:30 PM.

Alex G.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! Super cute and Cozy! They happen to have my favy bottle of wine which is the 2017 Pinot noir Rivers Marie.. I just wish they brought it back in a glass instead of the bottle but still hands down my favy wine bar because they carry that bottle and the staff always gives us the best service

Shanna S.

Yelp
Thank you West Coast Wine for inspiring my first Yelp review! Only went to West Coast Wine for a special wine tasting with one of my favorite wineries. Asked a few questions about the tasting and pricing, got some eye rolling immediately from folks behind the bar. At that moment I should have walked out, but I sat down to give them a chance... I received my tastings but no information of the wine that was being poured. The other customers next to me all got detailed explanations of what they were tasting. Obviously I was being treated differently. It did not feel good. I am temporarily disabled with both of my wrists broken, one arm is still casted. During my tasting, one of the guys pouring wine asked me to move my backpack without consideration for my situation and no offer to help me out. He told me I had to hang my backpack on the bar hook near my seat where it obviously wouldn't fit and I couldn't easily put it there. You can offer all the best wines, but BAD customer service makes for the worst glass. I couldn't down my wine fast enough to leave this pretentious spot. So many great wine bars in this city to waste time and money here.

Yelp
ONG what a wonderful restaurant great wine list awesome menu..Aaron is a great bartender very knowledgeable with a great personality.Chef Michael is also a outstanding gentleman he's an awesome chef the lamb is delicious.

Yelp
Beautiful ambience, amazing selection of wines and cheese platters. It's a fun place for a date night. We had fun trying various wines and they were all very good. Most of the wines from the west coast hence the name. I deducted one star as lot of the food options weren't available. Overall, am awesome experience and vibe.

Sharon H.

Yelp
I had high expectations but not a great experience. 2-hour dinner with lots of sitting with no food or wine. Small annoyance is a $45 cheese plate with only 3 soft white cheeses for 3 of us and then they charge for a little extra bread. Not really worth the time or cost.

Olivia T.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Such a cute place for great wine & cheese. Prior to COVID, it was hard to even get a seat inside due to limited space and the popularity. I'm happy they put in a parklet - will definitely be frequenting once outdoor dining is open again!

Abby R.

Yelp
This is such a great spot in cow hollow! Troy was the absolute best- recommended two super solid wines and his service was incredible.

Brandon G.

Yelp
We were walking around Cow Hollow and got hungry. They had a fantastic selection of vino and we also ordered a great charcuterie plate. We were shocked at how much food came out. Wonderful little spot to check out. -B

Lindsay B.

Yelp
An awesome place to come for a glass or wine and some cheese before dinner. I went on a Thursday night and it was pretty packed. We got lucky and there was a table outside available. It was a little chilly but has heaters so it was perfect. A little expensive but the wine was great and so was the cheese!

Emmy Q.

Yelp
This is the ideal wine bar for a weekend afternoon. The bar itself is pretty small with cute booths in the windows which are perfect for chatting with a small group of friends. I love their Maldonado Chardonnay. For you buttery- Chardonnay lovers out there, this is your wine. The cheese plates are very good, the Mt. Tam is delish. I just wish they served more than the one tiny slice!

Jenn C.

Yelp
I had the most incredible experience tonight at West Coast Wine. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Amazing wines, food and service. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations.

Lisa B.

Yelp
Amazing service and delicious wine!! The bubbles are beautiful here too. Simply LOVE this place!! Thank you west coast wine and cheese! We had the best Saturday night thanks to you!

Katja S.

Yelp
Stopped by for a glass of wine before dinner and was pleasantly surprised. The place is tiny, so I was worried, we wouldn't get a seat, given it was Friday night. But within minutes we were seated in a booth right by the window and were taken care of immediately. I went for the Rosé on their menu, which was delicious. Cool, crisp, with a light sweetness, but not too overwhelming. I really enjoyed the glass and the atmosphere here, nice place!

Yelp
Finally, a marina/cow hollow wine bar that takes pride in its wines, beers, and food menu. Let's start with the food, shall we? Chef Ethan Speiser is turning out the best food you've never heard of in SF. Best part, he's doing it all on a hot plate in the size of a kitchen equivalent to most SF closets. Get any fish he has on the menu that day. Big ups Ethan. If you're a fan of new world wines, this is your stop. As the name would have it, everything is produced on the "west coast" and to my knowledge there are over 150 different bottle options. All in all. Locally owned by a great couple, intimate spot, and well worth the stop.

Courtney L.

Yelp
This was a solid spot for a good bottle of wine, catch up with friends, and I liked the bustling city vibe. The reason I couldn't go further than 3-stars was due to an unfortunate scenario that I'm sure happens in NYC, but had never happened to me here in SF.. I called in for a couple friends and I to get a table for dinner and wine, and they sat us in a lovely corner booth by the window. It's a view of Chestnut street, so nothing too fancy, just good people watching if you're into that (I certainly am..!). We were stoked on the roomy location since it was busy and our first time here. Our waitress was great but a little bit busy, so wasn't on her A-game, but it happens. Our reservation (called ahead) of three was starting to look like a reservation of two, but we were still only halfway through our bottle and working on some apps (probably about 30 minutes into our time there). Here's where it got interesting... our waitress came over to tell us that she was going to need to move us to another table for two since our third person didn't show yet, and her party of 5 people needed a seat. She claimed they had a reservation, yet we were told nothing about this when we sat down... We asked her if we HAD to move, since our friend may show up and we just liked our location, and she responds, "Unfortunately yes. We need to accommodate this group, and since you're pretty much done anyway, we'd appreciate it." Huh..? Done?? We had a 1/2 bottle of wine and were thinking about more food... but, we double checked that our third friend could fit at this other table and she assured us she could. So what the heck...we decided to be the good samaritan and go for it. Well... the "table" was two barstools at a shelf on the wall. You know..the kind of table that you have enough space for the width of your wine glass and maybe a fork.. so as you can imagine, we felt completely smushed and shoved aside. I would highly suggest ASKING a table of two if they would feel comfortable moving, before forcing them to do so. I understand the concept of seating for a larger group, but the approach was off putting. Next time I visit it will be strictly for a pre-dinner drink in order to avoid the shuffling of tables. I will say.. the bottle we had was very good red wine... and I value that enough that I'll probably visit again!

Patty H.

Yelp
Profit margins over customer service. It started out as a promising venture to this establishment but turned sour pretty quickly when (I assume) the owner mumbled, 'I'm going to have to charge you if you want to taste any more.' The guy seemed friendly at first - we chatted about wine regions in CA. I told him I'd worked at a tasting room in the Edna Valley and described our predominant varietals, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that grow best in our climate. He seemed happy to tell us about all the wine they offer by the glass and bottle. It's common practice where I live to have a sample sip of a wine being poured by the glass, especially if it's one you haven't had before, and even more so when you're spending $18 on a glass of wine that probably retails for $38 a bottle. Profits for restaurants and wine bars are higher for 'by the glass' pricing. I'd tried the 2 Pinot Noirs on the menu and ordered my glass. I believe one of my friends was poured a taste of a blend she loved and ordered a glass. My other friend wasn't thrilled with the 2 white wines she sample sipped and when she said she didn't like either of them, that's when the owner said he'd have to start charging. If he'd averaged out how much wine was actually poured between the 3 of us for tastes, he should have just kept his mouth shut about charging. In the Edna Valley, we do things a bit differently. At every restaurant or wine bar I've been to, the owners and bartenders are more than happy to pour a few wines so you can find the one you're going to enjoy. They want you to taste and discover a new favorite that you might return to have, giving them repeat business. You won't find a bartender serving up 5 'sample' pours to someone who is clearly looking for some free alcohol, but that's where common sense and discernment come in. Whenever I serve someone in the industry, I make sure to give them great service because it's their word of mouth that will either have people coming to our tasting room or driving by. Here are just 3 things the owner could have said in a more customer service oriented manner: 'It seems like you're enjoying tasting different wines, why don't I put a flight of 3 wines together for you.' 'Let me know what you like in a wine and I'll pour you one more taste of something I know you'll love.' 'We don't usually pour more than one sample taste but I'll make an exception this one time.' Common sense. Customer service - it's not rocket science! We had moved to a table and left our server a cash tip. On the tip line of our $85 tab I wrote 'don't be a d*ck.' I told him in my years of living in a wine region and frequenting many establishments, I'd never encountered someone as rude as he was. He told me I should understand about his narrow profit margins because I knew the industry. I suggested that at some point, customer service should be considered. I doubt we made him lose money that night by having 2 ounces of 'free' wine. If you're in the restaurant or wine business - skip this place, their only concern is the bottom line, not your experience.

Miranda H.

Yelp
I've been to better wine bars. The wine is decent but the management is poor. Stopped in here at 5:30 to grab a quick glass before heading to an apartment showing. It was empty and we were told we couldn't sit in the window unless there were 3 people....okay. I understand maximizing your space but no one sat there for 45 min. Next issue was trying to leave, there were wifi problems. They could print the bill but not scan the card. We offered to venmo, no communication from the team. We could've gone to an atm but there was no communication on their part about what the hold up was. We were late to our appointment, charged 2 uber cancellation fees and had a mediocre experience that could've been better by an attempt to remedy the bill for our time.

Yelp
01.17.15 | bookmarked 10.23.14 Perfect new addition in the hood for an afternoon of classy booze. Hours flew by like minutes catching up with a friend, and the wine selection is vast but not overwhelming. Plus, the chef is a Warriors fan, so it's a great place to watch the game if you want to escape the rowdiness once in a while! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/west-coast-wine-cheese-san-francisco?select=YysMnMK9Zl-Gi9MJS7HwWw#YysMnMK9Zl-Gi9MJS7HwWw

Yelp
Cool and intimate ambiance (even for sf) with prices to match. The decor is beautifully elegant-one wall is stacked floor to ceiling with wine bottles and a white bar runs the length of the small wine lounge. I especially liked the hooks below the bar for you to hang your purse while sitting at the barstools (very nice touch!) The pros: The servers were very friendly, offering suggestions when asked and pouring my husband a sample of Sierra celebration ale and letting me taste my chardonnay before committing. The variety and quality of wine was also well selected. lastly, loved the cheese platter (we got truffle tremor), which was a wedge of infused truffle goat cheese with some bread, jam, honey, and nuts for $7. The cheese, from cypress grove, was more crumbly than creamy, which was not what I expected, but the truffle flavor was nice and pungent which was what we were going for. The con: the prices! I ordered a glass of Rafael et fils 2013 chardonnay for $14 which is $29 per bottle non-member price at the vineyard (2x markup which is reasonable in my book). My husband ordered a glass of Pedroncelli Zinfandel 2013 from Bushnell vineyard for $14 which is $20 per bottle non-member price at the vineyard.(3x markup which seems a little ridiculous to me). Overall pricy for what you get, but you're really paying for the ambiance and location.

Yelp
The food/ wine is great.. but the new team there is horrible.. just a back story.. I constantly order from Postmates when I am at my apartment in Nob Hill. Never had an issue, always great. One day I'm at my BFs house, which is one block up from the west coast wine and cheese, I called the place to order a cheese plate so I can just walk down and pick it up, the manager said they don't do that. I was a little confused on why they allow the postmates service but don't allow their neighbors to call and pick up. He then explained to me that they do not do service with postmates I order from postmates once every couple weeks from this place. Little disappointing that they don't know what's going on or he is just being silly. Also disappointing that he is treating his neighbors/loyal customers like this. Especially in this neighborhood, when most of the business is his neighbors.. not smart. They lost their service from me and my bf. We will not be going there or ordering from there again. Not a good way to treat a loyal customer.

Yelp
Great wine bar on Union " Chris the owner knows his vino " his chef Cat is superb great wines with passion flowing throughout WC-WC, try the grilled cheese sandy Bombay

Stan M.

Yelp
Such a nice place with a good wine and customer service. Edwin was awesome, knowledgeable and entertaining person. Definitely recommended.

Maggie P.

Yelp
I am really hesitant to write this review because I don't want my favorite spot to get so busy that I can't just show up at any time and get a table/spot at the bar... but this place has the best wine selection in SF. Not only is their wine selection amazing, but so is their service and the people who work there. Considering how tiny the kitchen is, you'd be amazed by the deliciousness that they are able to procure there!

Kelly K.

Yelp
Small cozy space with great wine, fantastic food (loved the burrata, grilled cheese, and avocado toast), and efficient and polite service. Came with hubby and a friend around 9pm on Saturday evening and it was standing room only until around 11pm, which was fine by us. Appreciated the management keeping track of when guests arrived and offered seating as it opened up in order of arrival. Awesome memory :)! We thought the pricing suited to the selection, quality, and location. Would love to come by on a slower night to chat with staff about the wine selection.

Lauren T.

Yelp
West coast is such a hidden gem in san Francisco. The decor is simple but very elegantly done, I would feel comfortable coming in after a long day or after a special event. The selection of wine they have is absolutely incredible and they also sell half glasses so you can try as much as possible! The staff if absolutely amazing, very accommodating and knowledgeable about their wine and food. The Sommelier was there to help guide our choses and I never once had to ask for a water refill. Now for the food! It could not have been tailored more perfectly for the wine selection they have. They have some classic items on the menu like avacado toast or a wide variety of cheesese, but they give you fresh preserves or honey to add a new element. There are also bigger items if your feeling really hungry that are absolutely amazing like the focaccia bread! The grilled cheese also looked amazing, but i guess I will have to try it next time!

Yelp
I can't speak for the food here - yet!- but their selection of wine was pretty good! I had some friends bring me here for a night cap and had they suggested I tried the Forlorn Hope - which had a nice peachy, dry taste. They sampled a few reds and I stuck with my white. It was nearly packed when we got there but there was room at the bar. We eventually moved to a front window booth that was much more comfortable. Only annoying thing was when the kitchen was about to close, they asked for last call for food - which is completely normal and appreciated. And then the second waiter asked us, and the third... still didn't change our answer. Again I appreciate that we were asked multiple times over being left out, but a little communication behind the bar would probably be helpful. If I am in the area and looking to grab a glass with some friends, I would definitely stop by here again.

Shawn C.

Yelp
My friend and I had dinner and a few glasses of wine here over the weekend. The burrata with toasted baguette was refreshing with their orange wine. And while the wine by the glass was well priced and intriguing, the real highlight was our awesome server Olivia. She was kind, caring, and helpful. We will be back!

Thea S.

Yelp
Really good food but super expensive!!!! Almost 40 bucks for a small cheese platter and deviled eggs were 3 dollars per egg half... they need to bring down the price to make it more accessible. This isn't an everyday restaurant

Dusty B.

Yelp
Yeah, gotta go with 5 stars here. The Marina doesn't have a spot like this...intimate, beautifully designed wine space where there is an obvious attention to detail. Even the minuscule bathroom is well thought out and super clean. Delicious wine selection, solid beer choice and, while I didn't eat, an array of snacks (ie tomato soup with grilled cheese and gourmet cheese plates) that would pair well with the relevant wines on deck. Great service here too. I will definitely be back.

Kayla M.

Yelp
Cute little spot. Great wine selection and the charcuterie plates are delicious! Small space with a nice ambiance. They get super busy so be warned!

Kapeli M.

Yelp
I have been going to this place since a few months after it opened. My impressions after going here at least 25 times: finally a wine bar for people who actually drink good wine. I am relieved that I no longer are you stuck drinking glasses of wine that you can get at Safeway or stuck ordering a bottle from some rot gut place in South America. Even better, the place has a great vibe and unlike some other places around, it does not smells clean and not like the inside of an old wine barrel. Best way I can sum this place up - its like going into a good restaurant's wine storage and being able to have a glass of the things you like - not the whole bottle. You like coveted Sonoma pinot - they got it. Santa Rita? Got it. Like the forest floor of Oregon? Got it. Want a great real clean chardonnay - got it. The top it off, they pour Domain Carneros by the glass. It is not just a great place for wine: the food is good here too. Cheese and food were awesome under Chef Ethan and Chef Wen, but the new Chef Mike - he is also doing some real good stuff in the kitchen. If you went before March, you should come back and see how things have changed. I was impressed. For you JV wine drinkers who want a cheap glass of swill, feel free to go down the hill. If you want to the good stuff, and you don't want to have to go to a high-end restaurant to get it - then come here. The place is small, so don't camp out if you are not going to order.

Yelp
Got drinks with a friend here around 7:30PM on a Tuesday and wasn't too packed! We got two seats at the bar without waiting. Would've loved to sit in the two cute window booths but those are reserved for people with at least 3 in the group. I'll have to bring more friends next time. We were mainly focused on the wine but I was starving and so got the Mission Fig & Prosciutto Salad which was divine. The combination of the sweetness and texture of the figs and the savory thin strips of prosciutto along with the bitterness of the kale and the creaminess of the burrata was a yummy panoply of flavors and textures. To the wine, which is the real main event of this place. Great local wines from vineyards you would visit in Napa and Sonoma. I loved seeing some Trefethen wines and feeling like, I know those grapes. Nothing mass produced, which I know as I've worked for those companies before. If you get three to four 3 oz. pours, it's a great wine flight which I would recommend. My friend and I started out with a little bubbly to cleanse the palate and loved the Domaine Carneros, Brut Rosé. Really really light. There are only three sparkling but they cover the flavor and price spectrum with classic Mumm at $5.50 for 3 oz. Then it was on to the reds. I got the Room 2014 Mourvedre and the Adelaida 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon. The Mourvedre was decent but the Adelaida really hit it out of the park. It was exactly at the server described - super fruity but still maintaining the identity of a dry cab. I urged my friend to taste the Adelaida and we both stayed and ordered another 6oz pour each. The place is small but it allows the extremely wine-educated staff to attend to you constantly and really give you a good feel for the wines before you order. Definitely a great place to do some wine exploring of California, Oregon and Washington and have an intimate evening with a small group of friends or a romantic date.

Yelp
VERY disappointed in this place because of the business owner. My boyfriend and I were visiting from Southern California and decided to walk in. There were FIVE people total in the restaurant which is about 2% capacity!!! We sat in the most desirable spot in the restaurant (one of two booths near the window). The waitress first proceeded to tell us we couldn't sit there because that table can seat 3-4 people. We understood that she was following orders, so we respectfully requested to speak to the owner. The business owner approached us and arrogantly said we couldn't sit there because it seats 3 people. Look, I understand when you have a busy restaurant you have to maximize each and every seat available.... But when there are CRICKETS in your restaurant and you have "two" customers who want to enjoy your restaurant and want to give you business, you shouldn't pry them from their seats and make them "sit in the back of the bus." Thank you for inspiring me to write my first Yelp review by making me feel like a second class citizen. I wanted to like this place, but I simply can not after the disrespect.

Yelp
Knowledgeable staff! The wine was a bit pricey, but it's SF, and Union St. so it's expected. Fun for a date night or if you have time to kill!

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. I mean.....I am the dutchess. ;) Our neighborhood has been needing something like this, and good GOD does their cheese/charcuterie mix and match plates make me happy! It always amazes me what delectable little treats they're able to cook up in that teeny, tiny kitchen of theirs. What talent. The bar tenders are super friendly, knowledgable and fun. I love coming here by myself for a little treat after Pilates. It's a small spot, so definitely an intimate meeting place for two. Yes the prices are a bit high, but you get what you're paying for. If you're going to complain, kindly walk across the street to Brixton where you can enjoy your $5 processed cheese dip (which I have nothing against, love me some fake cheese), because West Coast W+C is the real deal y'all. When I want to treat myself (which is far too often), West Coast calls my name. And she sounds so, so appealing.... **NOTE: Mondays (I think, they might rotate now) are wine maker tasting nights! I really love these happy hours focused around a particular wine and all the knowledge to go with it. Def makes my Monday blues disappear.
