"Oklahoma’s far from any coastal shoreline, but White River Fish Market is still a solid bet for fresh seafood. Don’t be deterred by the industrial surroundings; the business is intentionally situated near the airport in order to immediately receive shipments of fish, flown in from coasts throughout North and South America. Established as a market in 1932, White River now operates an old-school diner for the lunch and dinner crowd. Order at the counter for everything from fresh oysters to frog legs, and don’t forget to grab a slice of pie." - Jess Brent

"White River Fish Market in Tulsa, where generations of families have gone to feast on fresh Gulf catfish, red beans and rice, gumbo, rainbow trout, and endless hushpuppies. Located in an unassuming strip mall not far from the airport, has a strong cafeteria vibe with Formica tables pushed close together. It opened in 1932 as a counter-service fish market in downtown Tulsa at the height of the Great Depression. The restaurant part didn’t come for another decade. In 1965 the market and restaurant moved to its current location. Its simple, folksy founding motto, 'you pick ’em, we fix ’em' works as a kind of de facto mission statement that endures to this day." - ByJeff Martin

One of the best seafood 🦞 restaurants/ markets I've been too yet....If you're ever in Oklahoma, this is a must visit, great environment, great service, just great, from the moment I entered to the moment I left, Awesome experience

Google
Was in the area and decided to throw caution to the wind. Do yourself a favor and give this a try... you might be surprised... they even got Sweet Potato Pie ! ! ! Snow Crab Legs, Oysters, Crawfish and even grilled chicken & smoked brisket for the folks that don't like fish. 😁

Google
There's onion ring and There's ONION RING! Must try here. Btw, their fried stuffed crab is so crispy that you can eat the entire shell. (Not sure if it's seasonal. This is as of mid August 2024.) We love the orange roughy fish broiled. Yum!

Google
The boiled shrimp is fantastic. Comfortable space with nice service. Please have onion ring as side order

Google
Stopped in a day of shopping famished..I got the broiled red snapper and sweetie got broiled shrimp combos. Flavorful snapper was flaky and everything, including the green beans and spicy rice were seasoned great. Lots to take home and there's a fish market on other side of restaurant. Awesome lunch place!

Google
Great place to eat, it is hard to believe there is fresh sea food away from the ocean. Clean & friendly staff.

Google
I had the fried alligator dinner. The meal came with hush puppies and a choice of two sides. I chose corn on the cob and spiced rice. It was a very reasonable price for the amount of food I got.

Yelp
White River Fish Market may be the best seafood in Tulsa. The fish is fresh, served hot and prepared perfectly. The Cat Fish and Salmon were both excellent. Their Onion Rings are delicious, obviously made from scratch. They have a great selection of sides that are uniquely prepared. Atmosphere is casual, service is top notch and the food is fantastic. The prices were reasonable, as well. We attempt to get here once a month, or so.

Talisha M.

Yelp
Last time I came here I was a child and it hasn't changed. Still so good. I had fried catfish, fried alligator, grilled shrimp & scallops, and a baked potato and it was great. So much fish to choose from. It's a must try and staple of Tulsa.

Yelp
This place is such a local gem! Full of locals and I just love that. Walk up to the counter and take your pick of all of the fresh seafood. I ordered the broiled halibut with fried okra and onion rings and hubby ordered the grilled orange roughy and shrimp with pinto beans and onion rings. Wow! My husband did not realize that I had ordered onion rings. The portions were so huge, we could have easily shared those in order to try some of their other sides. I loved how the okra was fried whole instead of sliced and let me add that it is obviously not pre-fried and frozen. So very good. They serve the seafood with melted butter which I promptly poured ALL OVER my halibut. The halibut was so fresh and tasty and was so good with the butter and fantastically huge and delicious hush puppies. Hubby enjoyed his seafood and so did I ;)! He orders beans everywhere we go and the pintos got a thumbs up! This restaurant was one of the cleanest restaurants I have visited in a long time. There was no old grease or deep fryer smell. It is obvious that the kitchen and fryers are cleaned regularly AND THOROUGHLY! The restrooms were immaculate as well. The service was super friendly and attentive. I cannot wait to revisit next time we come to Tulsa. I also bought a quart of the gumbo to go and will update my review after I try it.

Yelp
I loved it everything was amazing super friendly everyone. Very clean, and I love the taste of everything. The rice reminded me of Paella! Wow can't wait to come back! The ambience was very pleasing. Adelita was super nice and each of the ladies.

Dan W.

Yelp
Always good food. I had the broiled plattter which is my goto favorite. Tilapia, Shrimp, and Scallops. All were excellent. I did have a first this time. Which was their okra. I had never seen whole fried okra before. It was better than the frozen stuff. But I would prefer to have it cut up using their batter. Service was good. Atmosphere is busy. But they handle lines well. When they are crowded it can get a little noisy. Had to look at market on way out. But wasn't in mood to get anything this time.

Kathy S.

Yelp
Fresh seafood cooked to perfection. A dozen cold, delicious huge raw oysters with a killer sauce, jumbo fried shrimp and scallops. Don't forget to order their gumbo! I'd like to know how they always know where I'm sitting! Go hungry! You won't be disappointed. Before you leave stop at the fresh seafood market and buy something for tomorrow.

Allen M.

Yelp
Lovely restaurant that just opens the local meeting spot! They have a wide variety of options that all have its own touch of quality in the aspect of how they prepared and cooked that item. Very large dining area for tons of people and the staff are nice and efficient.

Steve C.

Yelp
This place is old-school, looks like it's been here forever. Street sign is old, but super cool. "Strip mall" that it sits in is pretty much run down/abandoned except for business and a liquor store. One can tell that this restaurant is a local staple as it has certainly stood the test of time for a reason. Inside is no frills and stepping back in time. Fresh seafood and huge platters. It is a bit expensive for lunch and more food than most people can eat for lunch, but it was a stick-to-your-ribs kind of meal. I went with a handheld and had the shrimp Poboy. It was good, but I didn't fall in love with it. I got the to choose a side and went with the red beans & rice, and it was super good. Also, every meal comes with a couple hush puppies and they were a solid 8.

Yelp
My wife purchased $30 worth of shrimp with a debit card on Saturday, Dec 21st and the business placed a $300 hold on her debit card. This is Thursday, Dec. 26 and the hold is still there. What kind of reputable business places a hold on a debit/check card in the amount of 10x the purchase over Christmas? It would have cost less to drive to Texas and net the shrimp myself. We used to buy seafood from here once-twice a month, but no more. Like I said, I'll drive for hours with a cooler and bag of ice before I shop here again.

Cynthia S.

Yelp
We get take out from White River frequently. For years, I have purchased 4-6 quarts of gumbo PLUS 1- 1.5 pounds of small shrimp to add to it. Then I repackage into large freezer bags, which I stack in the freezer, along with other stews/soups. This time, I discovered that the shrimp had not been deveined! I started trying to deveined them myself, but after about an hour, I had done only half of them, so I threw the rest away. This has not happened in the past. The cost of the shrimp was over $16, so it wasn't an insignificant loss. We do like their gumbo very much after we add more shrimp.

Yelp
If you're looking for a variety of broiled or fried expertly prepared seafood, head to White River Fish Market! During a business trip to the area, this restaurant came recommended for lunch and it is definitely worth a visit. Our table enjoyed tasty fried fish, broiled flounder, and crab cakes, not to mention the many sides that come with your meal. The fried okra is different - whole okra rather than bite sized, yet very good. The salad and coleslaw options were good, they also have onion rings, corn on the cob and others. Plenty of food for the money, an old-school yet cleat atmosphere, and friendly service.

Candie W.

Yelp
The talk around town about this place has always been positive. Everytime I passed by it was full.... I wanted to try it out but never got the opportunity until recently. They sell fresh seafood and have an extensive menu. Sounds good, looks good, smells yummy....made fresh to order! yessssssss!! The customer service was A-1 and they have several articles on the walls - only thing is the food has absolutely no seasoning - none of it. nothing - nada!!!! The only thing I enjoyed was the onion rings - tjin batter - fried nicely. Great crispy and chewy ratio.

Andrew C.

Yelp
White River Fish market is one of those places that have been in Tulsa for a long, long time and people go there because it has great food.

Pearl O.

Yelp
Pros: Big portions = leftovers Lots of condiments Good flavors Friendly service Cons: Expensive $$$ Outdated decor Shady part of town Rundown shopping center Shirtless man sitting by entrance

Denise S.

Yelp
It was fantastic, would highly recommend it!! I had Grouper and my husband had MahiMahi, we both loved our dinners! The pie was delicious too!

Paul K.

Yelp
This was an excellent yelp find. I was on the way to the airport looking for someplace unique. Seafood in Tulsa? As ironic as it sounds this place is extremely fresh and clean. Telly Savalas took my order. He kindly walked me thru the option. Good to see ya back Telly. The market is right in the shop and wveything was made to order. My only issue is the issue plaguing America now. Everything has gotten way expensive. But this joint is worth it and portions are appropriate I demo'd the Kabab which included Swordfish, Salmon andSeabass

Karen T.

Yelp
The fish market is ok. It's expensive but the food is good. The service is acceptable and the building is old but clean inside. I would choose Fish Daddy's over this place.

Toni J.

Yelp
We tried this place per a recommendation from my brother, while we were staying in Porta Caeli Hospice with my mom. The name alone made me hesitant. We asked one of the aides at the HH and she said we wouldn't regret it. So we went! It was "a hole in the wall of place". Busy, busy. We stood at the counter trying to decide, the manager jumped in and helped us out. We both ordered the fried catfish dinner with coleslaw, fries and onion rings and it came with hush puppies that were huge! Manager gave us 2 free gumbo's (As he pointed out what appeared to be an open table but it was dirty, so we found another spot). It was awesome! Food was awesome and service was great! Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
En cantada con la comida bien preparada muy bien atendido super Lindo el lunar perfect

Yelp
I have always appreciated the cook & wait staff people, food service & customer friendliness, down home, unpretentious, comfort. Parking lot of nice cars to admire!! Fly-in visitors, blue/white collar workers, retirees, as well as neighborhood casuals. Fresh flown in seafood daily, so many fish to choose from, our family prefers the seasoned, blacken seafood touch. Great & many sides. Until recently I always bragged & said they had the best coleslaw in town, but they changed the recipe to being too bland, which caused me to down grade a star. Considering lunch, it is good to share a plate with 2 sides, 2 hush puppies & an extra side of onion rings. Still hungry, enjoy a pie desert.

Sonia C.

Yelp
It's a fish market! They have a market on one side and the restaurant in the other. Open area seating. You place your order, then find a table, and they will bring your food out to you. I ordered snow crab legs, corn on the cob, and green beans. It comes with hush puppies! Soooooooo good! The crab legs were great. The sides were delicious and this hush puppies!!!!!! So good! (I know I said that twice!) lol I haven't been able to find some good hush puppies like those in a long time! Never really realized how hard it was to find good ones till then! Anyways would definitely come back! Loved the service and food!

Jim H.

Yelp
Was great a decade ago, but it's been too long now . If it hasn't lost it's touch, it's fabulous.

Doc M.

Yelp
a little hard to find, this restaurant sits in an old strip mall, in an older part of north tulsa. it's worth the effort to find this hidden gem of a restaurant, as the staff are thoughtful and nice, and the seafood is delicious. I tried the gumbo, and beans and rice, came with 2 huge hushpuppies, and all was delicious. if you like good seafood, then show this local hidden gem some love, and give them a try, think you'll be glad you did.

Gwen C.

Yelp
Good food decent prices. The weight staff is amazing. I love all of the girls that's been there for ever and give them big tips, but it's definitely a place for the workers to go because there's usually a lot of men there and hopefully you don't have to stand in line too long, but they have fresh anything you want, amazing oysters, swordfish, grouper they have everything that you could even think of and it is the best place to have fresh fish anywhere. Tulsa just deliver food.

Teresa W.

Yelp
Shrimp, snapper, really all the fish, onion rings, corn on cob everything is wonderful

Willie R.

Yelp
The Oyster and Shrimp Lunch is AMAZING! The chefs and wait staff is AMAZING! If you are in Tulsa, and have a hankering for Seafood, White River Fish Market is the place to go curb that appetite!!!

Brenda B.

Yelp
The food is HORRIBLE, no flavor, and the red beans and rice tasted burnt. Tried this place TWICE and both times was a HELL NAW.

Timothy O.

Yelp
Great service and they now give a 25% Military discount. Great seafood for any evening.

Dan L.

Yelp
Who would have thought that landlocked Tulsa would have a great fish restaurant? I stopped by White River Fish Market based on Yelp reviews and was glad that I did. I ordered a broiled rainbow trout with salad and green beans. Everything was prepared with quality ingredients and big portions. In addition to the two sides, the dinner combo also include two hush puppies and a fountain drink. Service was also great. Judging by the number of people in the restaurant, this is a very popular place.

Vera S.

Yelp
Great food. Fresh! Hidden away--hard to find but good once we found it. All went well.

Aisha M.

Yelp
From the time we walked in the door, the service was outstanding!! Every team member we connected with was friendly and engaging. We received great recommendations and were impressed by their gumbo, red beans and rice, grilled salmon, catfish, shrimp, shrimp po-boy, and by their assortment of desserts (which we were too full to eat!) Visitors to White River Fish Market will not be disappointed at all!!

Natalie M.

Yelp
Wow, this place is amazing! We enjoyed our meal, service was friendly & very helpful. No fishy smell upon entering like some places in the 'fish market' category. Has a laid back diner feel with lots of seats in the restaurant because this place is popping! They open at 10:30am, not 10 which we saw online. By 11am, there was a line out the door! They have such a huge selection of fish and everything is so tasty and fresh! We also ordered a coconut cream pie slice & strawberry glaze cheesecake and they were killer! We also bought some fresh, raw salmon to cook at home later. We will definitely be back, very impressed by this little gem we stumbled upon! Thanks WRFM! Loved our experience & will definitely be back!

Scott G.

Yelp
My second time to White River Fish Market - and both times it was really busy and really good! I didn't take any pictures because I was too busy talking to a good friend and eating. I ordered the Catfish and Shrimp plate which came with two sides. I chose red beans and rice. Two massive hush puppies came on the plate with two filets of catfish and four large fried shrimp. All of it tasted great but I was pleasantly surprised at the flavor of the red beans and rice - incredible! Next time, I'm going just for a big plate of catfish! Service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere is loud and busy but not In annoying way.

Jim G.

Yelp
I started eating at this white River fish market about 40 years ago. At that time this restaurant was clean and did not have that fishy smell. The food was always great. However after several years. The restaurant cleanliness and the quality of food went down hill. I stayed away for a while and would give it a try every now and then without seeing any improvement. When I learned about the White River restaurant in Broken arrow my wife and I started eating there. However the last couple of times we ate there the food was over cooked to the point of being burned. Well we stopped driving 30 miles to B.A. for a burned sacrifice. I've been having my seafood withdrawals for several weeks until today. For the first time in several years my wife and I darkened the doors of the Sheridan White River fish market. The first thing I noticed was, it didn't have that awful fish smell second I noticed the restaurant was clean. Thirdly and best of all. The food was not burned. I had the fried fish combo with fries and salad. My wife had popcorn shrimp with fries and salad. We both enjoyed our meals. I also checked the fresh fish displays and was impressed with the freshness and large selection of the seafood they offer We will once again become a regular customer at the Sheridan restaurant. Unless they go downhill again

Glowie A.

Yelp
The best food in town !! Love this place the food was great , this is a must go to if you're in Tulsa! Customer service was awesome. The portions are perfect as well.

Kristye C.

Yelp
Food is great! Large portions. I selected the broiled combo it came with tilapia, shrimp, scallops, dipping butter, lemon and two big hush puppies. My husband selected the grilled salmon and I took a bite and it was delicious. Meals come with two sides both of us had the baked potato and it's the kind not cooked in a microwave and super tender. My husband had the onion rings and he compared them to some we had as young adults. I eat gluten conscious so I didn't try the hush puppies or onion rings. My husband said two thumbs up for both. I also had the side salad it was good but nothing spectacular. Definitely get the onion rings they smell so good.

Martha C.

Yelp
Dry greasy food in my opinion, not for me, and over priced. I do not like the food or the service.

Julie P.

Yelp
Excellent seafood and freshwater fish. Never had a problem with food or service. All are above par! Love the surroundings in restaurant. Looks perfect.

Yang L.

Yelp
Stuck at the airport waiting for friend, we decided to grab some dinner while we waited. The food was great, the service was great, the employees seam to be enjoying themselves. Will be back to try more of the menu. And the recommendation of the catfish plate was spot on.

Darren P.

Yelp
Best fish and seafood in Oklahoma. Had a friend in from Houston and he totally agreed it's as fresh and could be more tasty than restaurants close to the ocean. You can't go wrong with White River. No frills, just great food.

Crystal C.

Yelp
Pros: I love oysters on a half shell. Been eating at white river ever since I moved to Tulsa. I usually just get oysters and fries and hush puppies. My husband eats a variety of things. All the fried seafood and grilled seafood is good. Cons: Once the BA location opened up, we stopped coming here. The BA location definitely feels safer.

Jack W.

Yelp
White River Fish Market provide most of the fish to restaurants in the Tulsa area. The fish is flown in daily so if you want fresh fish, they are the best. The quality and variety of fish is unsurpassed in Tulsa. The quality of presentation is average. The ambiance is very casual ; one step above a dinner. The service was prompt and pleasant. Pricing was slightly higher than expected given the ambiance. Parking was spacious! When I think of White River, I think of the freshest fish in Tulsa.

Eddie H.

Yelp
My first visit to the iconic fish monger was on a Saturday noontime. They offer their seafood on open display for stocking your chill chest so there is no doubt about freshness or quality. I ordered the fried tilapia. With fries and onion rings. The tilapia met my expectations of quality and taste. The fries were standard and onion rings were good. However the hush puppies were very disappointing. Too spicy and mealy they remained on my plate. Minuet about 1 bite. I sampled the fried catfish and fried shrimp from my wife's plate and found them perfectly satisfactory. A return soon is not likely but I cannot say I am unhappy about my visit here. That said I need to disclose I am not a seafood lover. I prefer more pedestrian marine fare like fried shrimp, fried catfish and good hush puppies. I ordered a piece of their coconut pie. The filling was Very coconut-y, more so than most coconut pies. My overall opinion of it was pretty middle of the road with tasteless almost chalky crust and middle of the road whipped cream topping.

Trent D.

Yelp
high prices. You don't get enough portions. Very sad gone down hill. You dont see crowds anymore at this restaurant because of it.

Emile F.

Yelp
Gator was delicious hush puppies were good. Brisket tender to much sauce for me but next time sauce on the side. Service was good everybody super friendly. Definitely a return for me

Madeline E.

Yelp
Some of our meal was excellent. The coleslaw is also that sweet slaw that you miss from good barbecues or cafeterias. The fried alligator appetizer (I know) was delicious. LNothing was bad. It was just difficult for me to fall too hard for this spot since I don't like catfish or really any fried fish.

Eric J.

Yelp
From the "I did NOT see this coming" department - what an amazing place! Had a 3.5 wait for a late bag at the airport, this place had high ratings so we decided to try it out. Oh. My. Goodness. Totally nondescript place in a 50 year old strip mall - but we loved every bite. We both had grilled shrimp and scallops- amazing! Wonderful spot - will be back if/when I'm in Tulsa.

Shaina S.

Yelp
My family has been going to White River Fish Markwt for years and we've never had a bad meal! Consistently delicious! Always the same happy familiar faces serving you.

Kirk S.

Yelp
Excellent fresh broiled snapper. Super hush puppies. The fried okra is whole fried okra. Very good.
