A somewhat secluded entrance around a residential neighborhood leads you to a valet sign. Parking and walking up a few stairs takes you into a newly built upscale but unpretentious interior bar and dining room which leads to the outdoor dining terrace on the water. The terrace is a great place to dine when it's not too hot and you have a gentle breeze from the water. We arrived for the 11th week of operation of the new restaurant. The seafood, Mediterranean focused menu was right up our alley. More bivalve fans than some people, the two of us enjoyed three dozen Kushi and Shigoku, some of our favorite oysters from the West Coast, small, plump, sweet, $4 each, less than you pay lately at other venues.
After the oyster feast, as we always do, we shared several plates, we never order just an appetizer or salad and entree like some people (boring!) Here's what we had:
Half Maine Lobster Cocktail $29. - fresh, standard prep Maine lobster
Hamachi Crudo $22 - citrus, strawberry relish, basil oil, yummy
Scallops Aguachile $19 - another crudo we enjoyed
Crispy Eggplant and Zucchini Mouhammara $15. This is a thicker cut than you'll find at Avra or Milos, but hot, crispy and tasty. We prefer a tzatziki sauce but the walnut and roasted red pepper Mouhammara was fine.
Char Grilled Oysters $25 6 large east coast oysters with a touch of seasoned breadcrumbs, scampi butter and sliced baguette.
And of course a great bottle of wine, Aubert 2017 Larry Hyde from my cellar.
This section for Oenophiles:
The multi page wine list includes 15 wines by the glass ranging in price from only $11 for a Riesling or Greek Rose to $25 for a Premier Cru Chablis, with some 1/4 bottle (187ml) common Champagne choices from $30-35, Moet and Veuve. Wine bottle prices run about three times retail, for example Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc $105 vs $29 retail, Louis Roederer Brut $150 vs $50 retail, Peter Michael L'apre Midi Sauvignon Blanc $175 vs $57 retail. You can get a bottle of Prosecco for $40 if you're on a budget, want to pretend it's Champagne, or you're not so sure your date is worth it, lol. Corkage is allowed for wine collectors with a special bottle not on the menu. DM me if you want more details or contact the restaurant.
