The 12 Hottest Restaurants in Charlotte, North Carolina | Eater Carolinas

"Some of the most exciting barbecue in the South is happening out of a tandoor oven in an Indian food truck in Charlotte. Order several chaats here — lamb kebabs, crispy tamarind rice, and tandoor-smoked chicken tikka. Flavors are punchy and alive here, thanks to bonafide spices from a real-deal Indian grocer in Pineville and the playful wizardry from chef Arjun Verma. Chutney Cat has been finding its footing and evolving for a few years now, but the truck has now settled into a steady form as a local casual Indian street food spot." - Kayleigh Ruller

Where to Drink Margaritas That Give Back in Charlotte | Eater

"Take Peruvian flavors, add a generous touch of Japanese technique, a high-energy weekend DJ set, and you’ll have South End’s finest: Yunta. This Peruvian-Nikkei cuisine doesn’t hold back, as the kitchen churns out maki rolls and nigiri that can lean oceanic, lemon-zesty, and umami-packed. Service is a refined, well-oiled machine that doesn’t pull focus from the vibrant seafood-centric plates on the table. What may pull focus is the ambient music or that Strawberry Stardust Margarita with Astral and a candied ginger sugar rim. Looking for more margs? Check out these other local bars serving Astral Tequila: Boatyard; Cabo Fish Taco Ballantyne; Calle Sol; Calle Sol South Park; Carrburitos; Copperhead; DTR Plaza Midwood; DTR SouthPark; Fin & Fino LKN; Hatties; Snug Harbor; Ultimate Bar" - Kayleigh Ruller

Where to Watch Live Music in Charlotte Restaurants and Bars | Eater Carolinas

"Yunta, meaning “friends” in Peru, celebrates Nikkei food, the blending of Peruvian ingredients with Japanese techniques, in a sleek Southend space. The uniting of cuisines gives life to a bright and balanced citrus ceviche, an umami Peruvian seafood risotto, and a bingeable truffle butter nigiri. On Fridays and Saturdays, starting at 7 p.m., rotating resident DJs transform the space with energetic tracks. Sip a Peruvian pisco sour and enjoy the spectacle of both the DJs and the kitchen at work." - Kayleigh Ruller

Absolutely fantastic experience! The seafood paella was rich and flavorful, the grilled octopus perfectly cooked with a nice char, the ceviches were fresh and zesty, and the salmon was tender and delicious. The drinks were just as impressive, well crafted and balanced. Service was attentive and friendly, and the overall atmosphere was warm and inviting. Highly recommend Yunta for anyone looking for top-notch seafood and a great night out in Charlotte!

Google
Every dish at Yunta was carefully thought-out and flavorful. The tuna nigiri was incredibly fresh, and the ceviche was the perfect balance of rich and zesty. The cheesy Peruvian corn side was sweet and rich—and a perfect shareable size. The parrillelo maki roll (tempura shrimp, avo, torched tuna) was just okay for $20—most of the flavor came from the sauce. The steak skewers were flavorful but lacked a sear and came undercooked (medium rare was requested). I had heard that Yunta goes “all out” to celebrate birthdays, and we did get a yummy tiramisu cupcake with a sparkler for my mom‘s birthday, but I was surprised when they charged me $9 for it since I didn’t order it. The ambiance is a bit chaotic. It’s a small restaurant, and the tables are very close together. It’s also fairly loud, between the thumping house music and conversations of tables next to you. I think it’s a great place to go out for some trendy bites and drinks, especially if you like a live DJ.

This place is so amazing! The food is a Peruvian fusion so for all the native Peruvians, it is not like eating in Peru, however, for those Americans, who have never had the privilege to try authentic Peruvian cuisine, this will still knock their socks off! The taste of the food is absolutely amazing. The Casitas with blue crab, and the lomo were phenomenal. The Amazonica rice plate and ceviche classico were also very good. Was a little disappointed with the Chicharron because one of the four pieces was only fat. However, the taste of it was good. Be sure to ask for the limo or Aji Amarillo sauce to dip the food in because it is incredible. The Lucama chocolate ball is out of this world. This place will definitely not disappoint. Also the Yuka balls were tasty, but probably would not get them again. The aji Amarillo sauce made them much better. I will also say that it is inexpensive restaurant and you do not get very large portions of most of the food. So don’t come expecting large dishes.

Google
Really cool experience! Loved the ambiance and our server was very attentive and took time to explain and recommend us dishes. Yunta balls were fabulous and so was the Poseidon crab dish, but my favorite was definitely the potatoes paired with the filet mignon skewers.

This was my second time dining at Yunta, and once again, it reminded me why it’s truly in a league of its own. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with warm, attentive service and an atmosphere that immediately sets the tone for an unforgettable experience. The ambiance is a perfect blend of modern elegance and cozy charm — soft lighting, tasteful décor, and music that adds energy without overwhelming conversation. One of my favorite features is the open kitchen concept. Watching the chefs in action brings a whole new appreciation for the artistry behind each dish. Speaking of which — the food is nothing short of phenomenal. Every bite is packed with bold, balanced flavors, and the menu consistently surprises in the best way possible. Yunta doesn’t just meet expectations — it redefines them. Whenever someone asks me, “What’s the best restaurant you’ve ever been to?” my answer is always the same: Yunta, hands down.

Everything from being greeted at the door, to the food, to the end of our meal was perfect! The host was friendly and prompt to get us sat on a busy Friday night. Facuando made our drinks and they were delicious and he was super friendly as well. Lali was our server and she was perfect! Super friendly, knowable and attentive. The food runner Miguel was super awesome too. The food… was incredible. Everything was so flavorful, so tender, good potions. Overall and incredible experience!!

Google
I never have been at a place like this before, since You open the door, everyone is so kind, the food is awesome!!!!! I ordered just some croquetas and a chicha morada… as soon I tasted it… I place an order of a lomo saltado, causas, ceviche, and a pisco!!! every bite was a experience in my mouth!!!!! Servers are the best in the world and next time when I visit Charlotte… this will be my place

Google
A reservation is highly recommended. The first time we tried to dine here, it was a 4.5-hour wait. We sat at a booth in the back. The passion fruit juice is delicious (not pictured). The main courses had a lot of protein... enough for every bite. My Arroz con Mariscos was delicious. Lots of seafood. My only complaint is that the tails were left on the shrimp.

Yelp
Holy moly, this was probably the best restaurant I've been to in the 2 years I've lived in Charlotte! Although I booked a few months in advance for a Friday night party of 4 - worth the wait for sure. They were even able to accommodate a 5th guest at our table. The food is top-notch. I have never had this kind of "fusion" before but our server helped us out and made sure we were ordering some crowd favorites. It worked out best for us to share a bunch of things, and we were all full by the end having each ordered about 2-3 from the nigiri/sashimi section of the menu. And the appetizers - I am still thinking about the shrimp croquettes. And the CEVICHE!!! Especially the tuna. Sooooo good. They even brought us out a complimentary dessert as we were celebrating "life"! Complete with a sparkler! HIGHLY recommend putting in your reservation now so you can get to Yunta as soon as possible. I will be returning!

Yelp
For appetizers my party and I have tried the tuna ceviche with the three different flavors. It was amazing! For the Mai course I went for the Passion Limo Tradito. The service was nice. The server kept changing our plates every time before we eat something different. I guess so that we get to try the uniqueness of the flavor of every dish with mixing it with the previous dish

Yelp
If you plan on coming here.. even on a weekday for an early bird special.. MAKE A RESERVATION! My friends and I learned the hard way that you can't get a table for 4 around 6pm on a weekday.. but we did score a spot at one of the 2 outdoor tables.. which are first come/first served. I ordered the pisco and shiso drink to start. It was wonderfully spicy yet fruity. The alcohol wasn't overwhelming and it tasted more like a fruity spicy ginger beer. I had a bite of the panza which is like a salmon belly nigiri with lemon zest and crunchy quinoa. Yum! You have to ask for soy sauce.. but my friends enjoyed it without just the same. It was very fresh. For dinner I had the arroz con mariscos. It was a huge portion! I had leftovers. Served in a hot skillet and loaded with seafood. There was a decent variety of seafood mixed into the rice. Reason for 4 stars is that our waiter spilled an entire beer on our table.. and on one of my friends. We know this happens unfortunately and my friend was not upset (accidents happen) but nothing was offered outside of an apology (at least comp the drink you spilled on us)! It's street parking. The parking lot that is mentioned in other reviews is so tiny I wouldn't even bother checking it out.

Yelp
Located in the vibrant South End area of Charlotte, Yunta Nikkei is renowned for its fusion of Peruvian and Japanese flavors. The restaurant offers a unique dining experience with a menu that features a creative blend of ingredients and techniques. During our visit, we sampled some of their signature dishes, including the Scallop Tiradito, Tiger Milk Ceviche, Chicken Yakitori, and Pisco Sour cocktail. The Scallop Tiradito showcases fresh scallops with the zesty brightness of Peruvian-style ceviche. Thinly sliced scallops are dressed in a tangy citrus marinade and garnished with vibrant herbs and spices. The Tiger Milk Ceviche is a classic Peruvian dish with a twist. Fresh seafood is marinated in a flavorful blend of lime juice, cilantro, and chili peppers, resulting in a ceviche that is both bold and refreshing. Note: the citrus and sourness are very bold and forward in flavor. The Chicken Yakitori features tender pieces of chicken skewered and grilled, then glazed with a savory-sweet teriyaki sauce. We also enjoyed their Pisco Sour cocktail, an exquisite Peruvian cocktail with sweet, sour, and bitter notes. Made with pisco--a grape-based brandy--fresh lime juice, simple syrup, and egg white, this cocktail provided a nice complement to our meal.

Yelp
What a great spot! Came for a birthday lunch with a large party and had a lovely time. Drinks were amazing, service was great, cutest decorations, good vibes, spectacular food, can't wait to come back! Parking was easy. I've never liked ceviche before but I LOVED it here. I got the bento box and everything was amazing. I'm getting hungry writing this review, I cannot wait to come back.

Yelp
This is the best restaurant in Charlotte. It blows my mind that this place doesn't have a Michelin star. Kami Causita, Tiger's Milk Ceviche and Arroz con Mariscos was perfection. The ceviche in particular is a must have here. My partner and I's go to spot for anniversaries, birthdays, and work dinners. LOVE this place

Yelp
The worst part of our experience at Yunta is, we live in St Louis. Nothing compares to Yunta over here. Our service was amazing, we ordered several courses and everything was timed really well considering they were also very busy. The decor was very dark and romantic. If we lived here, this would be a monthly regular for us for sure. Every plate had so much flavor, I ordered ceviche for myself and it was the best ceviche I have had in a long time. I also had 2 different cocktails, they were both pretty and flavorful.

Yelp
SERVICE IS PHENOMENAL AND FOOD IS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! We have been coming here regularly for 2 years now since first moving to the Charlotte area from LA. The food here is LEGIT. Everything is packed with flavor. My go-to dish is always the spicy fish ceviche, my husband always gets the lomo saltado and the kids who are picky eaters LOVE their chicken yakitori with rice. The chicken is so juicy and tender. This review is long overdue. The first time we discovered this gem, I came with my 2 toddlers thinking we may not be welcomed at a trendy establishment like this but boy was I wrong. Everyone was so helpful and friendly from the host to the server and even the food runners.

Yelp
5 Stars for the Food 3 Stars for the Service 5 Stars Ambiance Loved the decor, I don't suggest sitting on closed in porch during heavy rain though. You will get dripped on its super loud to have conversations. Food was Fantastic very quickly served with fresh and tasty ingredients! We've been trying to get in for a long time now finally just made an early dinner reservation for 4pm. I forgot the names of everything but I recommend everything in my pictures!!! Salmon Belly!!! Crab Sushi!!!! Octopus!!!!! Service was not the best as we were very excited to finally be eating there and our server was very dry and seemed to be bothered by her job. No have you ever been here no suggestions nothing. This place is a must if you love Japanese and Peruvian! Such a cool combo!

Yelp
Yunta Nikkei is my new go to spot for SEVERAL reasons! first the atmosphere and decor and so dope. i sat at the bar and it was great to see not just the bartenders at work but the cook line can be seen as well. definitely a vibe! also, the aesthetic is modern minimalist. deep earth tones and just enough lighting to know where you're at but dim enough to feel very intimate. the service was AMAZING! from the hostess, to the bartender, to the food runner, to the manager, every made sure i was seen and tended to without being overbearing in the least bit. here's a run down of what i had drink - torri's domaine - smooth and definitely hit the spot with a japanese whiskey, fresh yuzu juice and finished with a piece of candied ginger. it was the perfect drink to set the tone for my meal. appetizer - croquettes - these shrimp croquettes were made to PERFECTION! the crispy batter on the outside with a pillowy soft creamy seafood interior that had chunks of perfectly cooked shrimp. honestly, it would be hard for me to come back here and not have this. main - yunta ceviche - i had mine medium heat and it was a perfect heat signature throughout the dish. this ceviche comes with their catch of the day fish, shrimp. octopus, squid, sweet potato and peruvian corn all in this AMAZING leche de tigre thats absolutely one of the best i've ever had. this spot is great for most occasions. whether it's a date night, group outing or a solo trip as i took, i HIGHLY recommend you make it a priority to frequent this establishment.

Yelp
First off - YES! Yunta checks ALL the boxes!! The food is phenomenal! We had several of the ceviches and couldn't even decide which was the best because they were all so good. We washed the ceviche down with some classic and some specialty Piscos sours, which were also delicious. Topped the meal off with a few desserts - none of which were anything less than extraordinary. The service is exceptional. Every person we interacted with was courteous, attentive, and welcoming. We actually sat outside on the patio, which can sometimes make service a little more scarce. But at Yunta, I never felt forgotten or too far away. The staff made great suggestions and didn't make me feel like a pain in the butt for sitting on the patio. The ambiance is great...The prices are as expected for great food and great service... and I don't think they can control the weather, but they made everything else so perfect - they might have a hand in that too. I can't say enough good things about Yunta Nikkei. I look forward to my next visit!

Yelp
This place is truly everything and more! They already were off to a great start when I made a bday reservation and they were super accommodating. I tried to book for resy for a table of 3 but there were no times at all until later in the night. So when I called, she was able to squeeze us in for a birthday it meant a lot. Our server was named Juan Carlos and he was more than accommodating answering all our questions and giving us the best recommendations of plates to try. I loved how this place really brought back memories of being in Peru. The food options are truly authentic. We chose to split the Uchu make sushi roll and it was amazing and flavorful. For dinner, I chose the arroz de mariscos. It had to be some of the best that I've ever had. Finally after dinner was over, they came out with a dessert selection for the bday boy to choose and just seeing the look of joy from the whole experience was enough. So thanks for making this moment special!

Yelp
This was my 2nd trip to Yunta and it's such a cute spot! I came here with my two coworker friends and we ordered a bunch of food and shared it. That's the best way to eat with friends!! For drinks I had a delicious old fashioned (or two) and they definitely hit the spot. They were made very well! For food, here's what we ordered and shared: - Kami causita: I'm a huge fan of this dish! - Ceviche trio: this is an absolute must order if you love ceviche. To be able to try 3 different types was amazing. Each one was unique, flavorful and delicious!!! Highly recommend. - Brasas potatoes: chefs kiss, super yummy! - I don't recall which sushi roll this was but it was divine! - Pulpo Anticuchero: grilled Spanish octopus and it was amazing!!! I love octopus though lol. This was a great dish! - New York Strip: this was tasty! Everything was really delicious! My only complaint was that the service was unnecessary slow. It wasn't busy at all. Our server quite literally just forgot he was our server I think lol. He was super nice, but just really not attentive at all. Thank goodness for the lovely lad who was refilling our water on the regular and clearing our plates and things. He saved the day. We even had to flag someone else down to get our check to leave. Again, it wasn't busy at all and when we looked over at the bar our server was just hanging and chatting with other folks who work there. So that was our only issue really. Great food and atmosphere overall though!
google avatar

Trapgod N.

Yelp
Went in for lunch on a Saturday to avoid the chaos dinner nights with them packing customers in there like sardines and blasting loud music... We got the original ceviche with Mahi chunks the dish overall was good wish they would cut the chunks a little smaller. Also tried the special hamachi jalapeño nigiri the waiter recommended it was 4 pieces for $30 wouldn't get again def not worth the price.
google avatar

Shizuka T.

Yelp
I have been to this place multiple times and I cannot say enough great things! The service is phenomenal and the servers are al very knowledgeable about the menu. They also have a nice mocktail section. My favorites are hotate (so buttery) and croquettes (heaven in your mouth). I have struggled to venture out and try other items because I keep going back to my usual items. I'm personally not the biggest fan of tiradito because it feels like the ingredients are swimming in the sauce. But that's just a me thing. All the maki and nigiri are solid. Ambiance is intimate. Great for a date night!

Yelp
Ahhhh vibes... Yunta is everything you'd expect and more. All the reels you may have seen on instagram, or Yelp's best restaurants of 2023 list. Yunta comes in at number 2 on that list (how dare you Poppyseed). With all that hype comes a lot of substance. I made reservations for Yunta on a Sunday night at around 7pm, and the place was buzzing. I loved the atmosphere and decor, the tables are well spaced with varied lighting expressions. There is a very cool and tasteful "red room" towards the side of the restaurant. I had a half booth/table combo facing the bar. The energy in the building is electric, everyone is moving around and laughing having a great time. The servers are well dressed and incredibly professional. I ordered the Arroz con Mariscos with Uchu Maki as a starter. The food comes out pipping how, partly because the orders come out whenever it's ready. There isn't a waiting time for the whole table to receive it all at once. It's different, but I must say I do like the method. The rice was excellent, flavorful and cooked just right. There may have been a bit too much salt/seasoning applied to the rice. But I'll have to try it again to see if it's just this batch, or thats just how it's made. My dish comes loaded with a bevy of seafood delights cooked to perfection. We're talking shrimp, squid (the star of the show), calamari, octopus, scallops! The service shines just as bright as my birthday dessert with the sparkler on top. Again, the service was exceptional! Our drinks were often topped off, and we were checked on, not just often but at the right times. Pro tip: If you order the Arroz con Mariscos, make sure you say sauce on the side, or stop the server before he pours it all over the rice. It's a nice gesture and seems tradition...but it's a bit heavy for me and maybe for you too.

Yelp
The atmosphere, the service, the food...top tier We went in around lunchtime on a Saturday not knowing we needed a reservation. The hostess was very nice and accommodating. She seated us at a reserved table but reservations for it was an hour out. That was plenty of time for us to enjoy the delicious food and classy atmosphere. Our waiter clearly explained the most popular dishes on the menu so we weren't clueless as to what we ordered. If you're looking for tasty unique food please visit this restaurant. You won't regret it!

Yelp
One of our most favorite Charlotte restaurants! The ambiance reminds me of a restaurant you would find in a huge metropolis! They have the vibes down! The food is also fantastic! You can see the chefs cooking right in front of you if you sit at the bar but the side seats are just as nice as well! They usually have a DJ playing which brings it all together! Highly recommend! The waiters and waitresses are always so nice and helpful!

Yelp
My boyfriend took me on a date and I love everybit of It. Yunta has great atmosphere, good music and interesting menu. The combination of Peruvian - Japan cuisines. If you love ceviche, they have the ceviche trio which is amazing. Don't underestimate it, It's a lot of food. Also can't skip the grill octopus, It's yummy-ah. They also have nigiri with some twists, worth trying. Don't forget the cocktail too, literally good stuffs. We had great experience with the dining and would recommend Yunta. Make reservations, they are so busy.

Yelp
We've discovered our new favorite restaurant. We started out with the chicarrón, a crispy appetizer that paired perfectly with the ají sauce. Then came out the Yunta ceviche, a generous portion of catch of the day, shrimp, squid, octopus, and sweet potatoes. It was fresh, with the sweet potatoes adding a unique flavor. Without a doubt, it ranks as one of the best ceviches I've had. For the main courses, the Tallarín saltado, a Peruvian stir-fry, offered a twist on the traditional stir-fry. I was hesitant to order the octopus, as it can easily turn rubbery when overcooked. That was not the case, it was tender and bursting with flavor. To be completely honest, I would return and reorder everything we had.
google avatar

Jennie N.

Yelp
Tried this Peruvian Japanese fusion place on a whim and we were able to sit on the couches out front. Would have been perfect if they had umbrellas or a covering cause we were BAKING in that sun. Inside it looked gorgeous! Great place to take a date or out of town guests to. Other than that the food was delicious! We tried both the fish and vegetarian options. The fish were fresh! Absolutely delicious! And we had the vegetarian fried rice and the fried Yuka root was amazing! Tasted like fried fish! The service was great!

Yelp
After reading many great reviews, my best friend and I came here for our date night, and it did not disappoint. We made a reservation and were promptly seated on arrival. The ambiance is modern, clean, and high-end and makes you feel like you're in a hip New York dining room, not next to a bagel shop in South Charlotte. Even the patio is luxe. Our waitress was sharp. She knew the menu, was equipped with suggestions, and asked the right questions. She checked in just the right amount and always kept the glasses full. The Peruvian Smoke was my choice cocktail of the night, and it did not disappoint. We started with the ceviche trio, which was divine. All the fish and seafood were fresh, and the flavors were innovative and well-executed. For entrees, we got the arroz chaufa and the lomo saltado. Lomo is one of my favorite Peruvian dishes, and this one was no different. The steak was tender, and the whole dish exuded flavor. It was a great choice. All in all, it was a wonderful experience from top to bottom. I cannot wait to come back. Sometime after my dining experience, I had the opportunity to meet the owner, Bruno Macchiavello, at a banquet where he was receiving an award, and he was indeed a delight. He gave a beautifully humble acceptance speech, where his love of life and food shined. Knowing his story and his commitment to the community made me want to eat at Yunta again and again. .

Yelp
Everything was good with the food. I love the ceviche. It taste so fresh. The only thing I didn't like was the noodles. It taste more like spaghetti noodles and not Asian noodle. But a good portion, I was just full from the ceviche until I got the noodles. The drink is always good. Everything on the menu is good, just more on the pricey side. The service is great. Staff is ready and attentive. The ambiance is nice although they do have a live dj so after a certain time, it gets pretty loud and hard to hear. I love their lunch menu though because of the bento box. They have their own parking garage in the back or when it's full, you have to do street parking.

Yelp
Make a reservation well in advance!! Or get lucky and sit at the bar. We made our reservation weeks in advance and the only available time for a Friday night was 4:45 pm. I can see why though, dinner was amazing. The drink menu was different and delicious - recommend the sake or the Peruvian smoke (mezcal!) For food, we sampled lots of the menu between the 5 of us and I loved the sushi - specifically the Parrillero Maki which they torched in front of you and came with a delicious yellow sauce. The Yuca balls were great to start with as an appetizer and the fried rice, Arroz con Mariscos was delicious as well, and very large if you are hungry. The service was great, our water was refilled as soon as there was any space in our cups. Waiter was great and friendly! Helped us take our pictures by shining his flashlight on the food haha. The atmosphere is cozy and small, but also vibrant. They also have a DJ on weekends starting at 7. A great restaurant in south end!

Yelp
This was my first visit to Yunta. Reservations come highly recommended! When making your reservation a card is required due to a $25 last minute cancellation fee. There is a time limit on tables depending on the size of your party. My time was 1 hr and 30 min for a party of 2. FYI - I recommend dressing warm for the restaurant. Every time someone opened the door you could feel the gush of cold wind. I was freezing the entire time inside. The ambiance was giving "grown and sexy vibes". All employees, from the hostess to the waiters, were extremely welcoming and friendly. My server was extremely attentive and helpful with the menu. I found the menu to be quite intimidating. I ordered: Bites: Croquettes ($15.00) Tiradito: Scallop Tiradito ($22.00) Dessert ($14.00) The croquettes were just okay for me. At first I was eating the scallop tiradito with chopsticks but a server recommended a spoon to get the sauce - he knew what he was talking about! This was a unique dish to try, however I don't think I'll order it again due to portion size. After sharing the appetizer and eating the scallops I was still hungry. This is 100% a location where you order multiple small dishes which will run that check up! A small parking lot is directly behind the restaurant. When I arrived at 4 PM on Friday multiple spots were available.

Yelp
This place only bad thing is that you need reservations waaaaaay in advance, so plan ahead! Service was incredibly fast and food was amazing. It is a little pricey so also plan ahead. Ambiance might get a little loud due to so many people being there. There's music in the background but acceptable volume. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Yunta Ceviche GF and Yuca Balls Parking space: Plenty of parking Parking options: Free parking lot Parking: It's behind the establishment

Yelp
So yummy. We had a delicious Valentine's Day dinner. Everything was beautifully presented. Service was excellent and we enjoyed all the food. They even gave out complimentary roses to all the females. So good if you enjoy raw seafood.

Yelp
Yunta is definitely a vibe, the food is right and the ambience is even better! We came with a group of friends and our waiters name was JOCK (like from finding Nemo) he was super cool and had the best recommendations! They do have a slot time for busy nights like the night we went, so if you are done ordering you have to be mindful and leave no chit chatting. Other than that we will definitely snag a reservation and come back!

Yelp
This place...amazing! The food, service, and ambiance are top notch! I feel like it's hard to find a place that you get all three in one experience! They know what they are doing and they are doing it well! I am a huge fan of their mocktails and those yuca balls- so good! Definitely make a reservation especially if you're headed there on the weekend! There is parking behind the building which is super convenient.

Yelp
It's a very nice spot very Vibey music plan. The food are good small shareable bites. Our waiter is very nice. They keep pouring us water. They're very attentive. My Niece food is taking longer than everything else so she's been waiting for her food for the longest. This is a nice spot. I will come here again. They have a great Cabernet from France and My Niece loved her Mocktail mango cocktail that she got .

Yelp
This place was pretty incredible - best meal I've had in a long time. The veggie maki roll my friend wanted surprisingly was flavorful and really delicious. We also shared a vegetable Peruvian fried rice and added chicken to it - also incredible flavors. Our server was nice and a bit quirky, but when I wanted to add non-fried calamari to the fried rice, it came out breaded and fried (which I cannot have) and when I told her that, her tone changed immediately. And she was weird and unfriendly for the second part of the meal. .......anyway..... The cocktails are immaculate. I didn't know what Pisco was until this visit, and the Pisco sour was divine. I thoroughly enjoy a restaurant with new and inventive flavors. We will surely be back!! (But will ask more clarifying questions in the future to not upset the server......)

Yelp
coming here a second time a year later, it is still amazing! some new dishes we ordered this time were lomo saltado, seafood risotto and scallop tiradito. the lomo saltado is out of this world! the meat was so tender and juicy. def recommend y'all to order it! you can't go wrong with the seafood risotto. there were seafood in every bite! the scallop tiradito was good but presentation was on point but i probably won't order it again cause of the portion size. the service was amazing, making sure our water was always filled and there for everything we need. the music does get loud in there so if you're more sensitive to noise that might be something to take into consideration.

Yelp
Made a resy for Yunta on a Sunday night. The place was cozy and vibrant. Our waitress was super knowledgeable about the menu and offered a few recommendations. We ordered a bunch of small plates and entrées to share. From the shrimp croquettes, chicharron, uchu maki roll, pulpo anticuchero to the mariscos al fuego and beef anticucho- the presentation for every single dish was phenomenal. The chicharron had the perfect amount of crunch and was not dry or overly crispy. The chimchurri sauce that was drizzled over the pulpo anticuchero had a good kick and spice to it. The beef anticucho was flavorful and tender. The mariscos al fuego was super fresh and had a hint of lime. We ordered two rounds of drinks and were all exceptional!

Yelp
OMG this place is fan-freakin-tastic! Created by the geniuses that founded Viva Chicken, Yunta sets the bar even higher. The staff were all very knowledgeable of EVERYTHING on the menu and they was they coordinated the table service and took care of us was like watching a well orchestrated dance. We well well attended for our entire visit. We ordered edamame and shrimp croquettes for apps. Then we ordered Mariscos al fuego and arroz con mariscos. Everything was so good we couldn't stop eating. We polished this all off the tigers milk ceviche and eventually had to be rolled out of the restaurant from being so full. Be sure to make reservations as this is a hot spot.

Yelp
Listen if y'all haven't been...what are you waiting for?!? The food, the service, the drinks, the atmosphere....10/10!! Nicholas was our server this time and he was very patient and made some great recommendations! The torched scallops and torched beef...chefs kiss! We sat outside and it is covered so it wasn't hot at all! This place is a whole vibe! I must come back when they have the DJ! If you haven't been. Get here!! Head over to sherritripsandtips on IG for videos!

Yelp
Wow this place was fantastic. No clue why it has taken me so long to get here. The first clue was that making reservations the day of only left me with minimal options, so we went with 9pm (on a Thursday) so I knew this place would be busy! The vibe was awesome- it reminded me of a good NYC place with the music, the hustle and bustle, and honestly the food. Our waiter was excellent and attentive. He gave great recommendations for both food and cocktails. He made sure if we had any questions they were answered and he wanted to make sure we liked what he recommended :) I had two maki rolls (was too stuffed to finish them both), and my date had one of the fried rice dishes.

Yelp
Yunta is one of my favorite newer restaurants in Charlotte. The vibe is great for date nights and dinner / drinks with friends. I've sat at the tables and the bar and both are great! It's an open kitchen which is fun to watch but you can also see how great the staff is. You see them hard at work, smiling and dancing to the music. Yunta has local house DJs on weekend nights! Service is great here!! They take the time to explain menu items and are able to work with you for food allergies. Food is best shared here so you can try many dishes. The ceviche is amazing and is larger than expected! I'll look through my camera roll and add more pictures :) The Smoky Melon cocktail is my favorite and I'd highly recommend!! My friend isn't a huge fan of mezcal and they happily subbed out the liquor for her.

Yelp
Went over the weekend perfect for date night. Food was tasty and different from most of what's around in charlotte. Glad to step out of my comfort foods for once. Nice to see your food being prepared in front of you if you're seated at the bar top. Server was informative about menu choices. Was pretty busy when we arrived but not so bad of a wait for the food to come out. Not sure if they're having ac issues currently but it was miserably muggy inside.

Yelp
Just adding on to my previous post since I lacked evidence. This time there was a dj and the vibe was so right I can't even remember the names to anything

Yelp
Our visit to this restaurant in Charlotte was the culinary highlight of our trip. The staff, with their detailed menu explanations and excellent recommendations, enhanced our dining experience. Despite the lively and busy atmosphere, we secured a table for four without a reservation, albeit at a later dinner hour. The sharing-style dining added a super fun element to our evening. The Classico ceviche was a standout--absolutely delicious and to die for. The edamame and simple yet delicious corn further elevated the meal. Despite the busyness, the restaurant proved worth the price and emerged as a delightful option for a lovely date night. While I don't remember the name of the sushi roll or other dish pictured, I do recall that I couldn't get enough!

Yelp
Food: by now I have tried everything on their menu, and I can honestly say I love it all. I have been going since they open and it never disappoints. Service has always been excellent. Drinks are great and it's always a fun ambiance - not your place for a quiet weekend dinner. Other favs not pictured: pulpo anticuchero, new York strip (can serve 2-3 ppl), chicken yakitori, arroz chaufa, tallarín saltado, yuca balls, chicharrón. Yo drink, ny favorites are the pisco sour (comes in a few flavors), Osaka, Peruvian smoke and the chicha.

Yelp
This place is a must!!!! I can't wait to make my way over there again. The atmosphere is fun and a great vibe. They have a DJ that keeps you pump and energized. Now on to the food....AMAZING! From the chicharron to the croquettes. The service, impeccable. Everyone from the host to the mixologists is were great! Will definitely be recommending this place and coming back. I definitely recommend you make a reservation as it is always packed and there are people will ing to wait 30plus minutes for a seat at the bar.

Yelp
Place is very compact and prices very high for the portions. We were a family of 6 with two minors, we all ordered at the same time but the orders came one at a time taking the kids orders the longest. The $65 New York strip comes with just some burnt rosemary on top. Ceviche without any chips or crackers to eat it, "way overpriced tapas" Very nice decorations but ambiance a little loud and tight, you can hear anyone's conversation.

Yelp
This place is so good! Their Peruvian-Japanese cuisine is such a great combination of flavors. We ordered the Yunta Ceviche and the Pulpo Anticuchero which were both excellent. I've eaten a lot of ceviche and this was definitely one of the better ones I've had. And the pulpo was grilled just right and came with potatoes drizzled with a really nice sauce. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time because it can be tough to get a table if you're walking in. This is a great place to celebrate a special occasion, or if you just wanna treat yoself.

Yelp
Some of the best ceviche I've had. The sushi is great. The edamame is really good. The Service was amazing both at the bar and seated. Drinks were great and the Ambiance is always a vibe. Highly recommended

Yelp
Peruvian-Japanese perfection. Yunta Nikkei is such a cool dining experience in a great location in the South End neighborhood of Charlotte. I made a reservation for a Sunday dinner about a month in advance, and I'm so glad I did because the place was packed. Their cocktail menu is intriguing with a good number of pisco cocktails. We went with the Osaka and the Pisco & Shiso. The Osaka had an unexpected smoky flavor (reminiscent of mezcal), and the flavor & texture of the drink changes as the malbec-morada ice cube slowly melts. The Pisco & Shiso was a lighter, more refreshing cocktail with notes of ginger and a fresh blackberry as garnish. Each meal includes complimentary crunchy & salty corn, served slightly warm - yum! To start, we ordered the Yunta Ceviche, which is a must if you're a ceviche fan. Really great portion and mix of seafood (snapper, octopus, shrimp) as well as large corn kernels, sweet potato, and onions. This was more filling than I expected. As our main, we got the pulpo anticuchero. The octopus was grilled perfectly and tasted savory and almost meaty with chimichurri on top. The potatoes were also great - salty, hot, and crispy with delish yellow sauce. We were so tempted when our server brought around the 3 desserts for us to look at, but were ultimately too full to indulge. Next time, Yunta Nikkei!

Yelp
I was excited to try it but I wasn't blown away by the flavor! Very lackluster! The flavor profile of all the dishes are similar! Sour, and salty! Didn't really have any sweetness to balance it out!
google avatar

Yelp
The cocktails were amazing and the service was over the top! Apologies for not saying the correct name of the dishes but We got the cheese balls with the yellow sauce and would highly recommended. We also got the ceviche trio and all of the ceviche's were delicious. The "lo mein" dish was okay, I added steak to it but it really didn't do any justice. I expected a lot of flavor and the noodles were kind of bland. My girls had no complaints about what they ordered and I'm pretty sure nothing was left. We ended up with a chocolate dessert that was perfect. Not too sweet and kind of tart but definitely different. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Fresh and made to order, the food was amazing. Service was quick and attentive. Def a great spot for a date, the ambience is good
