The History of Nevada’s World Famous Clown Motel - AFAR

"A historic graveyard that holds dozens of miners and victims of early-20th-century disasters—most notably deaths linked to mine fires and the Tonopah Plague (a pneumonia outbreak between 1902 and 1905)—it includes the 1942 grave of Clarence David, whose clown collection later became the centerpiece of the nearby motel; local lore maintains that the spirits of 20th-century miners and plague victims linger in the cemetery, fueling many of the area’s ghost stories." - Tiana Attride
