In-Depth Review of Clear Sky Resorts Bryce Canyon in Utah - AFAR

"This futuristic bubble-hotel retreat sits in a private 80-acre canyon just 15 minutes from Bryce Canyon National Park and is designed for immersive night-sky viewing, with standalone glass-domed accommodations (each with private fire pits and massive curtains) and floor-to-ceiling triangular windows that frame the desert cliffs and constellations. Opened in August 2024 as the brand’s second property, it will ultimately feature 62 luxury domes (about two dozen currently in operation) in categories ranging from the 438-sq-ft Lil Dipper (king bed) through the 610-sq-ft Big Dipper Stardust (including a playful Supernova disco option) to the 790-sq-ft Milky Way, which adds a loft with two twin beds but includes a spiral staircase that may not suit toddlers. The on-site Sky Nova Café, Bar & Grill continues the space-age vibe with spaceship-like furnishings and a breakfast menu of whimsically named dishes (flying saucer pancakes, stardust sandwich, space monkey French toast, astro-cado toast, and the “cosmic quesadilla”) and a dinner menu that ranges from pan-seared rainbow trout to a signature boar/beef/elk/bison burger, plus a kids’ menu and live singer-songwriter music at night. Guests praise the property for family-friendly programming (kids’ activities, yoga, guided stargazing, lawn games, scenic trails) and exceptional dark-sky viewing—Bryce Canyon is an International Dark Sky Park—while staff are friendly and helpful even as the resort continues to ramp up staffing, which can cause occasional service delays. It’s remote enough to feel like an immersive nature escape yet conveniently located off scenic Highway 12 near small towns (Tropic) and within driving distance of Zion, Capitol Reef, Dixie National Forest, and Grand Staircase–Escalante; note that rugged dirt roads and varied dome placement can affect privacy and accessibility, though single-level domes and staff rides are available for guests with mobility concerns." - Michelle Baran
