"This bar, on the uppermost level of Sala Rattanakosin, a contemporary boutique hotel, is the best spot in the city to view Wat Arun, the dazzling Temple of Dawn, and a smattering of Bangkok’s iconic sights. Ornamental roof peaks dot the horizon and, in this historic part of town, views aren’t interrupted by skyscrapers and you can see for miles. On major holidays, like Loy Krathong—which marks the end of the rainy season; typically celebrated in early November—New Year’s Eve, or Thai Father’s Day on December 5, the bar has 360-degree views of fireworks illuminating the sky. The menu is dominated by classic drinks, like whiskey sours and gin and tonics, that have a Thai twist: Try the Sala Sunset, made with a local Thai rum, triple sec, and mango, or the Phraya Passion, a sweet but potent rum punch." - Ashley Niedringhaus
