"Let’s start big picture here. Also known as Portland Breakwater Light, Bug Light (nicknamed for its small size) sits on the cusp of Portland Harbor, and affords sweeping views of the city skyline. It's set against 9 acres of maintained and manicured parkland, which residents use for picnics, boating, fishing, and kiting. Any standout features or must-sees? The expansive view of Portland and its working harbor dominates, and it never really gets old. You can see slices of Munjoy Hill in the background, Fort Gorges, and a handful of Casco Bay islands. Was it easy to get around? Finding what's where here is pretty self-explanatory. The lighthouse and green spaces can be easily spotted, and you can't miss the South Portland Historical Society and Museum, also at at the Park. All said and done, what—and who—is this best for? Lighthouse lovers can spend hours examining the 1875 structure's decorative Corinthian columns, but most folks here came to relax, take in the view, and play.
