"The winery's namesake Rutger de Vink, a former marine and corporate executive turned vigneron, first began here in 2004 with the goal of producing Virginia wines that rival bottles all over the world. His wine has since earned high praise from some of the biggest names in the industry, perhaps in part because it is so focused. RdV has mastered two blends: Bordeaux and California. It’s a testament to the idea of doing one thing really well. Tasting here is singular among many Virginia wineries in that it's slow and luxurious experience. This is not a turn-and-burn kind of winery, so it's best enjoyed with someone who wants to take their time savoring a glass." - Laura Ratliff, Kristen Schott
