"Why did this hotel catch your attention? What's the vibe?At the seriously stylish DD724, every detail combines into a cool, contemporary look. But the hotel is comfortable, too, with welcoming staff and a warm vibe. Mix this with an enviable position in the Dorsoduro district overlooking the garden of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, and you have a perfect Venetian haven for design-savvy travelers. What's the backstory?DD724 is part of the small Venetian Charming House group, with one hotel (DD694) just around the corner and the other (iQs) across the Grand Canal in the Castello district. Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book? With dark hues with splashes of ochre and earthy colors, the nine good-sized rooms and suites are stylish and luminous. There are lights by Viabizzuno and Renzo Serafini and fabrics by Frigeria and Designers Guild. One suite has a chromotherapy bathroom; another—the Family Suite—has two separate bedrooms and a pretty view over the Torreselle canal. Sheets throughout are linen, and bathrooms are equipped with marvelous rain-head showers. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi?There's good, free wi-fi throughout. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at?The breakfast spread is fresh and generous, and some hot dishes, including bacon and eggs, can be made to order. And the service?Seriously stylish it may be, but DD724 exudes warmth, thanks to staffers who bend over backwards to ensure a pleasant stay. They’ll suggest, organize, and book restaurants, tours, and transit. What type of travelers will you find here?DD724 is perfect for the kind of art lovers drawn to the ultra-contemporary exhibitions at nearby Punta della Dogana, and for style-conscious travelers who prefer Dorsoduro to more heavily trafficked districts. But families are catered to, as well. What about the neighborhood? Does the hotel fit in, make itself part of the scene?DD724 is a design hotel in an art district: a perfect match. Bottom line: Worth it? Why?For a combination of sharp design, warm hospitality, proximity to galleries, and relative tranquility, DD724 is hard to beat." - Anne Hanley
