Saenger Theatre

"So, can you tell us a little about this place? You can still feel the glamour that must have accompanied the opening of Saenger Theatre in 1927. Although the capacity has been cut from 4,000 to 2,600, the grand venue is still one of the biggest theaters in town, with a performance hall modeled on an Italian baroque courtyard and overhead lighting that resembles a starry constellation. What sorts of shows does it put on?The venue hosts big events that still need a more intimate setting than a sports arena: touring Broadway shows, big-name comedians, and music groups that want to play at a legendary theater. You can also catch occasional classical concerts. How are the seats? The reduced capacity makes for a much more comfortable experience; even the more affordable seats in the back have decent views. Anything good for kids to see? There are plenty of kid-friendly performances—the theater is well-equipped to make smaller guests comfortable. What else stands out about this theater? In addition to the Saenger's striking interior—truly a sight to behold—there’s nowhere else in town where you can see major Broadway productions. Why would you recommend a visitor catch a show here? The Saenger delivers grand nights out that are perfect for a special occasion." - Paul Oswell
