Banyan Tree Doha — Hotel Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"Why book? The Banyan Tree Doha is a resort situated in the Doha Oasis complex, offering guests a truly unique experience. The accommodation is top-notch, with each room offering beautiful views across the Gulf, along with access to a world-class spa, exquisite dining experiences and recreational facilities. Set the scene The elegant architecture was inspired by Qatar's heritage, with arches and courtyards that evoke a sense of space and light amidst the more modern shapes. As for the interior, there’s noticeably an emphasis on natural materials such as wood and stone, which are used to create a warm and contemporary space. The result is a splendid hotel that combines Qatar's rich heritage with modern luxury. The backstory Opened in early 2020, Banyan Tree Doha is the brand's first outpost in Qatar. The story of the hotel brand begins with its namesake tree, the majestic banyan tree. It’s a fitting name for the urban retreat that aims to blend both tradition and luxury in a cosmopolitan city. The rooms The property features 126 rooms, including nine suites and two villas. They are each inspired by Qatar’s natural environment with dark timber touches, furnishings in rich earthy colors and large windows evoking a sense of space and light. Enjoy a beautiful view of either the cityscape or the landscaped gardens from any of the rooms. Food and drink Indulge in a world tour of culinary delights. From authentic Thai dishes at Saffron to comforting Italian at Il Galante, you’ll find something to tickle your fancy. For those seeking a more intimate dining experience, private dining options are also available. The spa The plush onsite spa has a variety of treatments inspired by traditional Arabic healing practices, particularly with the use of rose and argan oil. It’s a difficult choice to make between the massages, facials, and body treatments on offer. Otherwise, relax amidst the heat and steam in the refreshing hammam. The neighborhood/area Banyan Tree Doha is located in an exclusive residential neighborhood in the heart of Qatar’s capital city. It’s conveniently close to nearby shopping malls, world-class restaurants, and vibrant nightlife, so you won’t have to travel very far to explore the city. The service The staff at Banyan Tree Doha are true masters of their craft, always making everyone feel welcome. It’s not hard to understand why so many guests rave about the genuine friendliness and helpful nature of the staff. For families Traveling families will be highly entertained at the Banyan Tree. There’s a kids club and lagoon-style club to keep the little ones busy. While the spacious suites with private balconies offer plenty of space for large families to relax in style. Eco effort The hotel is committed to conservation. They recognize that Qatar is one of the driest countries in the world and they've implemented a number of water conservation measures, including recycling greywater for irrigation in the landscaped gardens. In addition, the hotel grows its own organic fruits and vegetables and only serves locally sourced food in its onsite restaurants. Anything left to mention? Guests have direct access to the Doha Oasis, where there’s an indoor theme park, department store and cinema complex." - Jenna Scatena
