"What are we drinking? It's all about the beer. The taproom features 18 Peticolas beers on tap, all made on site in the brewery, including the legendary Velvet Hammer and the refreshing session beer, Golden Opportunity. What's the vibe at this brewery? A breezy, three-level taproom in a former warehouse, Peticolas is one of the best places to kick back and hang out in Dallas' Design District. Picture concrete and galvanized metal bar tops surrounded by wooden tables, benches and stools. The tri-level taproom offers a rotating list of delicious house-made craft beers (which have won a multitude of awards), and is also one of the best places in town to catch soccer games, from Mexican matches to the Premier League (the owner, Michael Peticolas, is an obsessive Everton fan, who admits to having a poster of goalkeeper Jordan Pickford tacked to the ceiling above his bed). But it's not just about beer and soccer; this is a genuinely pleasant place to while away an afternoon, playing everything from ping pong and shuffleboard to foosball and board games. Who tends to come here? Hopheads from across the DFW area flock here, particularly at weekends, because the beer really is that good. But the vibe is about more than just sitting at a bar and drinking—it's a family-friendly spot, too, with plenty of games to enjoy and the big doors open on nice days to let the fresh air flood in. What kinds of beers can we expect to see on tap? This is arguably the beer joint, not only in Dallas itself, but in the entire DFW metroplex. For beer connoisseurs, this is a magical establishment of Willy Wonka-esque proportions, with a real sense of fun pervading the proceedings. Here, you can sample everything from stout to nitro to fruit beer, sipping favorites like Match Day while watching soccer, or the heavyweight Sledge Hammer, a triple Imperial Red at a punchy 11.5 percent, at the end of the night. Anything good to eat, too? There is a regular series of food truck pop ups (check the website for details), while Peticolas will also happily place pizza orders for you if you ask. They also encourage you to bring whatever you like to eat in the taproom, the pervading attitude is as chilled as a perfect Czech lager. How are the bartenders? The entire "brew crew" is fun, welcoming and extremely friendly. Particularly the hands-on owner himself, Michael Peticolas. What's the real draw here? This is a superb place to kick back and catch up with friends on a weekday evening or weekend morning when the Premier League is showing. It's a great place for bigger groups, as there's so much space. An easy place to lose a few hours in great company, over great beers."
