"Fluffy yet tender with flaky layers, the biscuits at Denver Biscuit Company are the real deal. They’re also the foundation of sandwiches that stand half-a-foot tall or more. A few of them are legitimately Instagram-famous by now; in particular the Dahlia, starring a fat, crusty-edged sausage patty topped with a fried egg, apple butter, and maple syrup; the Franklin, with buttermilk-fried chicken, bacon, cheddar, and sausage or mushroom gravy; and the towering Elmer, with barbecued pulled pork, French-fried onions, coleslaw, and house pickles. This is not a hurrier's dream destination though, as waits can easily exceed an hour on weekends. Here’s a simple rule of thumb: Come when you’re hungry but not so ravenous that you can’t be patient." - Ruth Tobias
