"Opened late 2016. (from Departures: Tamil Nadu’s ancient capital, Tanjavur, becomes more accessible with the December opening of Svatma. Housed in a restored, century-old family mansion, the 38-room hotel is the first luxury accommodation in Tanjavur. The city, often regarded as the cradle of Southern Indian religion, architecture, and art, is an ideal base for exploring the Great Living Chola Temples and experiencing Bharatanayuam, a form of classical dance. Each of the 38 rooms has a slightly different design, but all feature traditional dark woods and Indian artwork.
