"What stands out to you as you enter the resort? Give us your first impression. The bright and airy lobby sets the tone at Sapphire Falls. A playful chandelier, composed of what looks like dozens of wicker beach balls, draws your gaze up and toward the picture window overlooking the resort. The pool area is the gem of this Caribbean-inspired resort, with a sand beach, water slide, fire pit, and rentable cabanas. Is the hotel a one-off, or part of a chain? This is one of the newer hotels at Universal Orlando Resort, which has been rapidly expanding. It falls toward the middle of Universal’s price spectrum, but its dining and amenities set it above the competition. What are the rooms like?Standard guest rooms are small but bright. Bathrooms have plenty of under-sink storage space and a bench in the walk-in shower—a rare but appreciated feature. Cool. If we'd like a libation or a snack after we've settled in, where should we go?Rum connoisseurs should visit Strong Water Tavern, which stocks more than 60 rums of various regions, including rare and vintage varieties. The tapas-style menu showcases flavors of the Caribbean. Is there anything you'd change? The pathway from Universal CityWalk is dark and winding, and it can be a bit harrowing at night when the pedicabs hit the sidewalks. Take the complimentary boat instead. Anything else we should know when planning our stay?Guests at Sapphire Falls receive early admission to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter—probably what you’re here to see to begin with—but they don't get access to the complimentary Universal Express Pass. That perk is reserved for guests at Universal’s premiere-level hotels. Bottom line: Worth it? Why?This is a modern, bright hotel with easy transportation to Universal’s theme parks and lower room rates." - Valerie Marino
