"First impression? Hemingway is one of the smallest bars you'll ever see—and one of the cutest ones, at that. It's not quite a speakeasy, but blink and you'll miss it. Cool. So who’s there? Solo drinkers and couples—this isn't the place for large groups. Despite (or perhaps because of) its small size, Hemingway maintains a very convivial atmosphere; after all, it’s not hard to get to know your neighbors when you’re practically sitting on top of them. How are the drinks? The cocktail menu is confusing and convoluted, so feel free to go off menu. You won't be disappointed by a classic Negroni. Worth ordering something to eat, too? Jamon platters, cheeses, Sardinian bread, and olives. Did the staff do you right? Welcoming and genial; one bartender mans the tiny bar, the other works the floor and attends to the couple of outside tables. Wrap it up: what are we coming here for? Back in Ernest Hemingway’s Barcelona days, the writer’s favorite haunt was allegedly Bar Marsella, a dive bar known for its lethal absinthe. But we’d venture a guess might have liked this one too. Hemingway (the bar, not the writer) isn’t pushing the boundaries of mixology, but it does good, solid drinks in an ultra-pleasant environment." - Naren Young
