"In a departure from the island’s trend toward over-the-top fantasy villas, the 353 rooms at the Conrad Bali Resort & Spa are downright tasteful—spacious and comfortable, with authentic Indonesian accents. The only thing excessive here is the setting. Tanjung Benoa is a spur of land dangling off the southern end of the island, with a lovely beach facing the harbor; a breakwater keeps the surface as tranquil as glass and perfect for water sports, which include introductory scuba, parasailing, riding Jet Skis (at a discreet distance), and sailing aboard a catamaran or motoring in a glass-bottom boat. This is a family-friendly resort, but the atmosphere is remarkably sedate: The Club wing doesn’t allow kids under 12, and the signature restaurant, Spice, on a breezy terrace overlooking the sea, is one of Bali’s most romantic."
