"How did it strike you on arrival? If only all hotels could have as grand an entrance as the Palazzo Montemartini, with its contemporary reception area and mashup of modern and old furniture. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Anyone from designers and artists to families on a European jaunt stay here, drawn to the location (near Termini station) and the hotel’s intriguing design. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Rooms are bright and spacious with art on the walls and big, airy windows. The furniture is decidedly modern—in Junior Suites, the bedhead that turns into a sofa is a neat idea, and the table by the window is the perfect resting place for your complimentary welcome glass of wine. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase?Junior Suites come with plenty of goodies, like an ever-handy early check-in and late check-out, plus a 15 percent off treatments at the hotel’s serene spa. Oh, and free water, for rehydrating after all that sightseeing. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.Bathrooms are spacious, the towels and robes seriously soft. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Wi-Fi is free, and awesomely strong. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The rooftop terrace is envy-inducing, and the Caschera Spa is ultra luxurious—book the ‘spa and senses fusion package’, featuring a 50-minute body scrub and back massage, plus a three-course lunch or dinner at the hotel’s Senses restaurant. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay? There aren’t many smart-looking hotels close to Termini station, but Palazzo Montemartini is the exception. It’s just a five-minute jaunt from the trains, perfect for when you’re on a short stopover or keen to see other cities, like Florence and Venice, while keeping Rome as your base." - Maresa Manara
