"In 1950, she became the first Black person to purchase land on Cape Cod; six-acres and a large Victorian home that soon became Wagon Wheel Bed & Breakfast. Over the next several decades, it was known as a safe place for Black travelers visiting The Upper Cape during the Jim Crow era."
