"Established in 1919, Ojai’s longest-standing hotel is getting a new lease on life: after decades as an all-inclusive, adults-only spa, it closed following the 2017 Thomas Fire and now returns under a new team (Eric Goode, Ramin Shamshiri, Jeremy McBride, and Warner Ebbink) with its Spanish Revival bones intact—think a Mission-style arched entry, stone fireplaces, and Monterey furniture—across 50 rooms centered on a lovely walled garden and serene pool. We’re especially keen on the three dining outlets by chef Brandon Boudet of Little Dom’s: Condor Bar for modern Mexican, an intimate lobby Snug Bar, and a guests-only café for breakfast and lunch. For maximum Ojai vibes, we’ll be booking a terrace room to catch those famed “pink moment” sunsets steps from health-food cafés and crystal shops with Topatopa views." - Todd Plummer
