"How did it strike you on arrival?Quite possibly Rome’s chicest address, the views from The Inn at the Spanish Steps definitely pack a punch. But it’s not hard to divert your eyes away from the spectacular city views, thanks to the warm reception area and lovely staff, keen to make your time in Rome the best it can be. The atmosphere is traditional but comforting, a bit like stopping by a stylish relative's house. Nice. What’s the crowd like?This is a ‘friend of a friend’ hotel—everyone here’s on a recommendation, or they’re one of that special clique of traveller who only stay at the Leading Hotels of the World. Spot their designer luggage first, they’ll soon follow. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.The Luxury Executive Double Rooms come with polished floors and striped wallpaper. While the rooms aren’t new, they all have some cosy touches, like big leather armchairs, and a decorative fireplace that creates a cozy vibe. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?Some of the king-size beds are canopied, but they’re all comfortable, with velour cushions that somehow manage to look good, rather than cheesy. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.The striped wallpaper continues in the bathroom, giving it a wholesome, historic feel. The robes and slippers are ultra soft, and the Etro bath products are a chic touch. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Wi-Fi is free and the connection is strong. Bottom line: worth it, and why?This may not be the newest, or most modern hotel, but it’s warm and comfortable, and the location—right in the middle of Rome—makes sightseeing a cinch." - Maresa Manara
