The First Roma Arte

"How did it strike you on arrival? You could walk past The First Roma Arte and not really notice it was a hotel. It could be a gallery, a shop, or a design studio. Inside it is sleek and modern, with sculptures and contemporary artwork (available to buy) cheekily placed in every nook and cranny. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Anyone after a hotel that’s a little more interesting than your standard five star. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. The Junior Suite is splendidly designed, all neutral hues, with bright pops of colour, like blue velvet sink-into-sofas, a decorative marble fireplace, and modern artwork by Italian artists on the wall. Smart design features, like a raised podium for the bed, make the room feel spacious, and the complimentary bottle of bubbly makes for a welcome touch. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?The bed is king sized, naturally, with a smooth leather headboard. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down. The bathroom’s total luxury, all Emperador marble and exotic Ortigia bath products. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word? The Wi-Fi is excellent, and free. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.Be sure to check out the extras the hotel offers, like the Jewish Ghetto tour, or a cooking course with an Italian nonna. There’s also an optional treasure hunt, where a personal shopper takes guests to visit Rome’s artisans and their boutiques. The property’s Acquolina restaurant uses local ingredients to create fresh takes on Italian classics (fish with black truffle, passionfruit cheesecake), or head upstairs to Acquaroof for a Rome Roy cocktail – a heady mix of Scotch, orange soda, and vermouth." - Maresa Manara
