"Opening Friday, August 4 to replace Portofino after its 22-year run on Paces Ferry Place, Bar Ti Amo is an all-day Italian spot from Tuscan native Marco Betti that pairs an espresso bar and breakfast service with lunch and dinner, and on weekends transforms into a late-night Italian salotto serving drinks and decadent desserts. Growing up just outside Florence and working in his family’s butcher shop, Betti wants this to be a place where people gather and linger over family-style meals; Ti Amo translates to “I love you.” The restaurant opens at 8 a.m. for espresso and breakfast—expect egg dishes sautéed with braised meat and vegetables or tossed in a spicy carrettiera tomato sauce, panini stuffed with Parma ham and fontina, toasts topped with lentils and olives or avocado and capers, Italian pastries such as a cannolo with pastry cream, and freshly made juices. At lunch there are vegetable bowls, salads, Italian soups, pasta dishes, and a variety of bruschetta and panini; dinner becomes full-service with wines by the glass and bottle, cocktails like a Negroni, limoncello lemon drop, and an Italian paloma, and entrees such as Tuscan braised beef, chicken thighs garnished with tomatoes and olives, and fish tossed in puttanesca sauce. On weekend nights it turns into a late-night salotto offering drinks and desserts including a mascarpone-and-strawberry cup and classic tiramisu. Situated inside a converted brick bungalow two blocks north of the St. Regis within an enclave of boutique businesses—neighbors include Le Bon Nosh, Yebo Beach Haus, and Henri’s Bakery—the restaurant is open Monday and Wednesday–Sunday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m." - Beth McKibben
