"Started as a pandemic-era pop-up in May 2021, the team of Cedric Andrews and Danielle “Margo Moon” Bigham grew Shell Shock’d Tacos into a wildly popular operation known for its signature crunchy birria tacos—Andrews swaps the traditional goat for a blend of chuck beef and beef cheeks to achieve a balanced texture. Their playful, birria-forward menu also includes Crunchwraps, deep-fried birria egg rolls, and chicken wings served with mini cobs of elote; they collaborated with local hip-hop artists and influencers to build buzz, landed pop-ups at the 2022 NBA All-Star Game in Cleveland and at Comerica Park, and even found a semi-permanent spot behind the now-shuttered Bagley Central.
