"Acadian-style seafood now has firm representation in Little Burgundy with this new spot run by Simon Dunn, Antoine Legault, Éric Le François and Alex Lejeune, which occupies one of Drinkerie Ste-Cunégonde’s two rooms and features vintage crab-shack décor. The Notre-Dame W restaurant centers its menu on the classic guédille (lobster roll) and other seafood-forward variations, and also offers trout gravlax, poutine râpée (a filled potato dish), crab dip and a haddock pogo. Working with chef Alain Gauvin, the team says they want to highlight a cuisine that rarely gets the limelight, albeit in a slightly more formal setting than a casual New Brunswick coastal eatery. Beyond food, maître d’ Karine Leblanc has sourced Maritime wines, and although the restaurant is physically attached to Drinkerie Ste-Cunégunde the cocktail list will be different and short, with a secret menu of frozen blended cocktails accessible only by saying the right words. Le Fricot opened at 2661 Notre-Dame W for limited hours March 28–30 and begins regular service April 4, running 5 to 11 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday." - Tim Forster
