"At 740 N. Rampart Street, I encountered a reinvention of the space that opened as 10 Foot Pizza in spring 2018 by Noah Antieau and Nic Reddy and later became Red Truck Clubhouse; Michelle Healey bought it after six months consulting with the former owners and renamed it Rampart Treehouse. The original gallery-style artwork, wall murals, astroturf and an enormous faux magnolia tree with 500 hand-painted blossoms centered at the bar remain intact. Healey tweaked the pizza recipe and introduced tableside flambé pies — the aptly named “Flambeaux” is set alight with brandy to add a pronounced smoky flavor — while still offering regular whole pies (including Hawaiian and a vegan option), slices to-go (cheese $4, pepperoni $5, plus a daily special), and other menu items like a seitan sandwich, BLT and salads. She’s also rolled out community-focused policies, offering paid volunteer hours to employees and buying New Orleans residents a slice and a beer if they bring proof of three community service hours. The restaurant is open noon–2 a.m. Sunday–Wednesday and noon–4 a.m. Thursday–Saturday." - Clair Lorell
