"I noticed the newcomer opened March 14 in the former Alberto’s space at 2010 P Street NW in Dupont Circle and aims to bring the tropics to diners with Hawaiian-style tacos, poke, and a rotating selection of shave-ice desserts. The founder, who spent time in the South Pacific, clearly influenced the menu, which features tacos filled with marinated pork, jerk chicken, crispy tofu, and seasonal fish topped with mango salsa; four types of poke bowls (including a vegetarian option); taco salad bowls; spicy chicken wings; guacamole; and a pea-green “edamumus” (a soybean-based hummus). A streetside menu photo also shows pending breakfast offerings—egg-filled tacos, burritos, a burger with brown gravy, pork hash, and huevos rancheros. The spot is projected to operate from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. to start, and its status is listed as certified open." - Warren Rojas
