"Having impressed Capitol Hill with old-school chicken Parm, fluffy tiramisu, and well-made $10 martinis, the team behind Caruso’s Grocery is opening a 90-seat outpost in the back two-thirds of the NRG space inside Owen’s Ordinary at North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose. Matt Adler’s decidedly unmodern tribute to classic red-sauce joints leans on nostalgia, quality ingredients, and technique: pastas such as gnocchi, fettuccine, ravioli, and penne alla vodka with peas and prosciutto are made on-site. Maryland diners will see additions like chicken Scarpariello with sausage and peppers, veal saltimbocca, and prime steaks and chops served with marsala-braised mushrooms, balsamic onions, and roasted garlic butter. Adler also plans to bring the Italian nachos his dad used to make at Scoozi—fresh pasta sheets fried into triangles topped with four-cheese sauce, sautéed spinach, crumbled sausage, basil-marinated tomatoes, and black olives—and the operation will feature a reliable list of $10 cocktails (including a Manhattan with an amaretto rinse by Nick Farrell) plus a deep, affordable wine program curated by Erin Dudley." - Tierney Plumb
