"On St-Denis Street in the Plateau I found Cérès Café, a newly opened part-coffee shop, part-eatery at 4433 St-Denis that feels more like a coffee shop that also serves cereal rather than a gimmicky cereal bar. It’s been open only a few days and offers bowls of cereal plus coffee, smoothies, juices, kombucha and a solid, reasonably priced selection of sweet and savoury crepes; some cereal-style options are along the lines of granola you’d find elsewhere, for example a maple quinoa crunch with blueberries and pecans. They take an eco-friendly approach with compostable packaging and washable glass straws, and they offer a build-your-own bowl (mix two cereals, two toppings and flavoured milks) for $6.50 — which I noted might not be everybody’s cup of tea. There’s ample space for the laptop crowd to camp out, and the spot intentionally doesn’t lean too hard on the cereal trend (unlike the Cereal Killer Cafe in London)." - Tim Forster
