"Back in a new permanent home after pausing its run at sandwich shop Black Hogg in 2020, this popular poke shop from the team behind Bodega Park has turned its warm, wood-clad room off Sunset Boulevard into a Silver Lake power lunch spot with quick service and ahi tuna–laden bowls starting just under $20. As long as you can find parking (not too bad mid-day), grabbing a bowl takes under 20 minutes and beats any sad desk lunch. Build your own with two proteins, a base, and two banchan—go for spicy tuna slicked in orange-hued mayonnaise, salty shoyu salmon, a half rice/half kale base, and kimchi cucumber. Add a snack-sized Spam musubi set on a cube of gently compressed white rice to stash in the fridge for later. It’s vegan-friendly, too: try the vegan poke made with shoyu- and ginger-marinated beets, and confirm which banchan are also vegan. Expect loosely scheduled creatives and parents en route to school pickup, and note that drinks are limited; Bodega Park next door has you covered." - Rebecca Roland
