"I learned it will open before the end of the year at The Village at Mira Mesa near the intersection of Mira Mesa Boulevard and Reagan Road as a corner, 3,000-square-foot storefront with more seating than their City of Industry location. After building nearly 1,300 locations across Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China and selling 1.2 billion dumplings annually, the chain is now expanding its U.S. presence from its North American headquarters and central kitchen in Irvine. The San Diego menu will match the Los Angeles outposts, featuring their signature boiled dumplings (pork and cabbage, corn and chicken, and kimchi and pork), the popular Bafang pork chop (a Taiwanese breaded pork cutlet), griddle-fried potstickers, Taiwanese beef noodle soup, and old-fashioned bouncy QQ noodles dressed with soy sauce and shallot oil; drinks range from boba tea to mango soy milk. There will also be combo meals that include iced lemon black tea or a cup of hot-and-sour, corn chowder, or mini wonton soup to let customers sample specialties. Company leadership says their aim is to offer authentic Taiwanese comfort food that is high-quality, convenient, and affordably priced as they vigorously expand in Southern California." - Helen I.
