"I noted that Edgar Caro, the restaurateur behind Brasa Churrascería, Barutapas, and Basin Louisiana seafood, has opened Zócalo with Antonio Mata on Metairie Road a few doors down from Brasa; Caro is originally from Columbia and Mata is originally from El Salvador, and they’re exploring a broader spectrum of Mexican food there, from salsa made with peanuts to posole and flautas. The space, which had been occupied by Vega Tapas for two decades, has been fully renovated, and it's open Tuesday through Sunday for dinner with plans to add lunch and happy hour soon." - Stephanie Carter
