"Wei Wei, Sellwood’s one-stop shop for supremely savory, relief-for-any-hangover beef noodle soup, will reopen with a new owner next month. Earlier this year, one of Portland’s best (and only) Taiwanese cafes closed, causing an outpouring of grief for the restaurant. Now, a longtime customer and friend has taken over, leaving the menu and space almost completely the same. The restaurant is currently undergoing a cleaning process, but doors should reopen by November 14. Wei Wei opened in 2015 in a SE 13th strip mall, where it quickly turned heads for dishes like cold noodles and pork belly bao. It accrued praise from local critics and attracted crowds of loyal devotees. The restaurant announced its closure in August, shutting its doors in early September. “We’ve had an incredible run in Sellwood and have cherished the many friends we’ve made and the community we have been a part of,” the post reads. “Thank you all for your support and kind words over the past two-and-a-half years.” Time will tell if the restaurant’s dishes hold up under new ownership." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden
