"In the corner building at Michigan and the Lodge, I found James Oliver Coffee Co., a 3,400-square-foot flagship cafe that opened this week in the former Corktown space of the Detroit Institute of Bagels. Operated by David Shock and Miranda Clark (daughter and son-in-law of founder Jim James Oliver Clark, who remains on as a consultant), the family-owned shop offers bagels and bagel sandwiches plus a full line of brewed beverages — an espresso bar, cold brew, nitro, tea, and a pour-over station — and the owners have suggested they’re working out details so you can have a bagel, a coffee and even a glass of wine. Its grand opening was Saturday, October 30, and it’s open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m." - Monica Williams
