"During the early morning hours of December 10 a wildfire — named the Franklin Fire — broke out in Malibu, burning more than 2,500 acres and prompting a mandatory evacuation zone along a six-mile stretch of Pacific Coast Highway from Corral Canyon Road to Tuna Canyon Road that extended into the Santa Monica Mountains. As of 10:45 a.m. on December 10 officials reported minimal damage to residential structures and no major injuries; more than 700 firefighters and air support were deployed to contain the fire. This university was specifically threatened by the blaze and ordered its students to shelter in place." - Matthew Kang
