"A LinkedIn job posting and a Squarespace site suggest a venture called Shack 15 may be moving into San Francisco’s Ferry Building: the posting indicated restaurateur Michael Mina was seeking a general manager for a new members-only club to be called Shack 15, but Mina and other stakeholders have declined to confirm whether the project is happening. I found that the brand is also Meltwater’s co-working concept (launched in London in 2016) and that shack15.com opens with a drone shot of the Ferry Building and lists One Ferry Building, Suite 201 as its address; the site describes a 46,000-square-foot “inspired gathering place” with dedicated workspace, an array of lounges, an in-house restaurant, a coffee bar, a wellness center, and a pioneering event space. Trademark filings for the brand describe co-working facilities, leasing of office space, and business/technology workshops (with no explicit mention of private clubs or restaurants), and attempts to get confirmation from Mina, Shack 15 contacts, and building owners were met with silence or deferral, so it remains unclear whether Mina will operate the in-house restaurant or whether the project will proceed." - Eve Batey
