Discover Authentic Guatemalan Flavors at Tikal Mayan Food Uptown - Eater NY

"Tikal Mayan Food is more ambitious than many Guatemalan restaurants, offering a deep and brightly lit space adorned with murals of Tikal pyramids. Owned by Noe Rodriguez, the restaurant serves polished home-style fare including tamales wrapped in a banana leaf, lengua tacos, and enchiladas de res con curtido. The menu features Platos Fuertes such as pacaya envuelta and kaq'ik de pavo. Unique dishes also include an enchilada topped with chicken chow mein, and one of the city's best lamb barbacoas. The restaurant also offers Central and South American dishes like rotisserie chickens, Salvadoran pupusas, and shrimp ceviche. Drinks include atole de elote and Jamaica, complementing the earthy menu." - Robert Sietsema
