"Once a 15,000-square-foot, freestanding banquet hall and full-service event center at the corner of 54th and University that operated for over 20 years as Lucky Star Seafood and then Crystal Palace before closing in fall 2020 due to the pandemic, the space is being renovated under new ownership and will reopen later this year as Diamond Palace. The remodel by the owners of Golden Island aims for a more upscale design and will be anchored by an all-day restaurant offering a menu similar to Golden Island—ranging from dim sum to live seafood, roast meats, and other Cantonese-style dishes—along with a separate area dedicated to casual takeout. With capacity for 700 guests, two stages, and two dance floors, the venue will be equipped to host a variety of banquets and events, from weddings and quinceañeras to other special occasions, and is currently scheduled to open by late summer or fall." - Candice Woo
