"Cherry Creek’s Halcyon Hotel is one of the neighborhood’s swankiest, seamlessly blending elegance with hip amenities like in-room turntables and curated vinyl. Its rooftop bar, Rare Bird, continues the upscale meets playful theme with a spacious patio that gives visitors a, well, bird’s eye view of Cherry Creek and the outline of the Rockies. The patio is lined with cushy bench and booth seating around fire pits and lush landscaping in planters. The menu, created by Executive Chef Daniel Young, focuses on all-American favorites, from snacks to heartier fare. On the snackable side, one might opt for locally-made City Pop popcorn, chips and French onion dip, or wings, while those with a bigger appetite might want to choose the RB burger with bacon and smoked cheddar, the fried chicken sandwich, or the elote-style hot dog — a riff on a Sonoran dog topped with sweet corn, giardiniera, cilantro, chili-lime seasoning, cotija cheese, and spicy cheese puffs. Each Saturday, Rare Bird hosts a classic Southern barbecue, rotating through a pig roast, ribs, brisket, and chicken along with all the sides like slaw, corn on the cob, baked beans, and banana pudding." - Rebecca Treon
