"Launched last fall by Mark and Liz Deno, Atlanta Hard Cider aims to “bring true and authentic all-natural craft cider back to the South” and hopes to break ground this summer along Marietta Boulevard in Westside. Their planned 11,000+-square-foot production facility, just south of Elaine Avenue and the M West condos, will feature a large tasting room with 40 taps, an outdoor patio with food trucks and live music, private events space, and will sit steps from the future Westside–Northside portion of the Beltline; the cidery plans to be open Wednesday–Sunday. The Denos began making cider as an alternative to beer because of Mark’s gluten intolerance; their cider is currently brewed and pressed at a 100-year-old upstate New York apple orchard and is sold at select Publix, Whole Foods, Krogers and at the Roof at Ponce City Market. There’s no word yet on whether they will use Georgia-grown apples." - Beth McKibben
