"A stone’s throw from the biggest Home Depot you’ve ever seen, takeout-only Mona’s Cuisine is a staple of Staten Island’s Fox Hill neighborhood and customers line up early to get a taste of Liberian food with Jamaican and African American influence. I had a massive serving of cassava leaf sauce ($18), flavored with aromatic Scotch bonnet peppers and dotted with fish, stockfish, chicken, and goat; it was served on white rice (there was no fufu that day) with a dollop of pepper sauce that wasn’t as hot as expected, and the side was a great rendition of mac and cheese." - Eater Staff
