"I noticed the Japanese eatery quietly launched during the dine-in shutdown as a takeout-only operation with limited offerings, and recently it held an official debut, opening for seated dining and revealing its full menu. Located in Clairemont Mesa in the former Ramen Yamadaya space, EE NAMI was opened by Jumon Tano—who trained in tonkatsu at his family’s restaurant and reportedly worked for several years at Yokohama Yakitori Koubou—and chef Teru Yanoshita. The restaurant centers on pork cutlets, showcasing tonkatsu across dishes from a trendy katsu sando to katsu-don (an egg-and-rice bowl), and also offers non-pork variations like fried Hokkaido scallops and fried shrimp. Billed as an izakaya, it pairs drinks with an extensive range of small plates and appetizers, including enoki mushrooms wrapped with pork belly, beef tataki, and raw octopus with wasabi, along with rice and noodle options such as yakisoba and ochazuke (a quick rice porridge)." - Candice Woo
