"Opening this summer in a 48,000-square-foot facility near the Rose City Golf Course at 2700 NE 82nd Avenue, I’m intrigued by a massive indoor–outdoor sports-entertainment venue that pairs pickleball (five full-size indoor courts plus six outdoor courts and “skinny singles”) with bocce, ping-pong, cornhole, an arcade (partnering with Quarter World), and a nine-hole putt-putt–style disc golf course. The food program—backed by Nate Tilden of Olympia Provisions and Brian Spangler of Apizza Scholls—reads as one restaurant split across two kitchens: the Parlor will focus on 12-inch, tavern-style pizza cooked in a deck oven with classic toppings like fresh vegetables, pepperoni, house-made fennel sausage, mozzarella, and pecorino, and will also serve soft-serve ice cream; the Kitchen will produce rice bowls (offering gluten-free and vegetarian/vegan options), smash-style griddle burgers, salads, and Olympia Provisions sausages such as frankfurter, bratwurst, and Käsekrainer. Both kitchens have full bars pouring a Pacific Northwest tap selection plus cocktails and wine, with pitchers available so people can eat and drink while watching friends play; courts can be rented by the hour with open-play windows, and the developers say the concept is meant to be accessible, family-friendly, and fun. The People’s Courts is developed by Dave Sacks, Dave Schrott, and Robert Sacks and is expected to operate roughly 9 a.m.–10 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m.–midnight on weekends." - Clair Lorell
