"Baltimore holds on to its traditions pretty tightly so, sometimes, the best course of action when renovating a space is to go in the complete opposite direction. The latest example is Patterson Pins, which took over a historic duckpin bowling alley that opened in 1927. (Babe Ruth was even rumored to bowl a few rounds here.) There was such a charm in the original alley — the workers were surly, the equipment was faulty, and it was totally BYOB. While the new spot has spared two lanes for bowling, everything else is radically different. The neon-hued space now has arcade games, pinball machines, and a full craft cocktail menu by Shaun Stewart, formerly of Hampden Yards and Bluebird. Classic and nonalcoholic cocktails are available, as well as a video game-themed selections like the Ono Mihcio (rye whiskey, matcha orgeat, and orange liqueur). There is no food available, but pizza from Eater favorite Johnny Rad’s is right across the street." - Jess Mayhugh
