Replacement for Shuttered Elmwood Cafe Opens Today - Eater SF
"Baker & Commons opens today in former Elmwood Cafe space. Brunch restaurant and community hub Elmwood Cafe shuttered suddenly last month amid renewed criticism for a 2015 incident of racial bias, leaving the neighborhood without a central business on which many of its residents were reliant. Now a former manager of the Elmwood Cafe, Kara Hammond, and Eric Wright, a veteran of the East Bay hospitality industry, are opening a new business in the space at 2900 College Avenue.
