"Located in the heart of Third Avenue, I report that The Balboa South, the Balboa Bar and Grill’s long-awaited Chula Vista outpost, is now open and currently operating Thursday through Sunday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. in a 4,000-square-foot space. It features 12 taps of craft beer and a temporary menu with three of The Balboa’s signature burgers and a chicken sandwich, with vegan black bean patties available as meat substitutes for any sandwich. Proprietor Tom Logsdon, a South Bay native who called the opening a bit of a homecoming and part of Third Avenue’s renaissance, says the menu will expand to include the full offerings found at the original Fifth Avenue location plus a few South Bay–exclusive items, and he may add a separate 21-and-up bar behind the main dining and taproom to accommodate more taps and a full liquor bar." - Mario A.
