"Growing out of six months as a farmers’ market fixture, I've watched Barracruda evolve from pop-ups and a speakeasy-style event into a permanent Barrio Logan outpost within the Bread & Salt universe. Co-owned by Eduardo Cortes, Freddie Hernandez, and Juan Saad-Quintana, the team is reconfiguring a large shipping container to serve as the dining room and kitchen and aims to officially open by mid-April, sharing an outdoor patio with Mujeres Brew House and hoping to provide food for that tasting room alongside brewery founder Carmen Favela. The menu expands on market favorites like red snapper ceviche and a shrimp aguachile seasoned with black chile ash, tamari, and a mezcal reduction to include king crab and a wild shrimp cocktail, ahi tuna tostadas, and Baja oysters, plus vegan versions such as a ceviche made with mango, hearts of palm, and cauliflower with a hoisin glaze; future offerings may add seafood tacos, burritos, and weekend brunch. While finalizing the Barrio Logan location, they're previewing the menu via pop-ups—after a speakeasy-style event at Border X and recent test runs at the venue, they will do a menu preview on Saturday, April 1 at a Brockton Villain La Jolla pop-up paired with beer, wine, and cocktails." - Candice Woo
