Inside Hot New Restaurant Elena’s Mexican in San Francisco’s West Portal Neighborhood - Eater SF

"Elena’s in West Portal, the newest restaurant from the Original Joe’s team, only opened in early February. It has quickly become one of the hottest reservations in San Francisco, offering a menu of Mexican dishes such as sizzling fajitas, enchiladas, crispy tacos, and various margaritas. The high-ceiling dining room is warm and inviting, featuring a colorful bar and cozy banquettes. The restaurant's cocktail menu includes seven versions of a classic margarita and two frozen options. The dining room boasts tall ceilings and an open design, with an open kitchen where plates of food come streaming out into the dining room. Menu highlights include guacamole with chips, taquitos, ceviche tostada, Mexican street corn, chile relleno, braised carnitas, grilled ribeye, shrimp a la diabla, chile colorado, and seven kinds of tacos. Elena’s is open daily for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, with reservations available online." - Patricia Chang
