"After a public Facebook post by David Cooley, I learned he alleges that he and his partner were removed from Alaska Airlines flight 1407 (originating at JFK and bound for Los Angeles) when a flight attendant asked his partner to give up a paid Premium Class seat and move to coach so an unnamed straight couple could sit together; given the choice to relinquish the seat or get off the plane, they left, calling the experience humiliating and discriminatory and urging others in the LGBTQ community to consider a boycott. Alaska Airlines says the situation was a seating error compounded by a full flight and a crew seeking an on-time departure, has apologized, says it has reached out to Cooley to make it right, and stressed its commitment to diversity and inclusion — noting Pride participation, work with LGBTQ nonprofits, an employee-led LGBTQ business resource group, and a perfect score on the HRC Equality Index." - Farley Elliott
